Thanks! I also found this for the few of us new to the series:

Honestly, probably, yes. The Keep allows you to build a custom world state from the previous two games, but it doesn't in detail explain the background/significance of each choice. A large amount of the story and lore in this game is filled in between the lines.

As a long time fan of this series, (DAO is in my top 5 GOAT) DAI is probably a good entry point control wise to a newcomer to the DAverse. This game may as be as actiony as the previous entry, but it is still foremost an RPG.

I would say certainly give it a go, but just know what exactly you're getting into. I feel like there's going to be many people getting this based on reviews and hype alone without ever playing a game this series before, and then are going to end up disappointed b/c they were expecting something like Diablo 3 or similar.

The reviews and hype got me interested, but I don't like to jump into games that I have no idea what is going on. That kotaku article I linked above has a good amount about the previous stories and it talks about using the dragons keep.

Yeah the keep can help you decide the events of dragon age origins and 2 before inquisition.

          Pretty good summary.

You'll be fine from what I read. I am sure some things will confuse you, but hop on here and ask what happened if you need to. Most of us here played DA:O to death.

Hopefully you get so hooked that you buy Dragon Age Origins. EA was giving it away for free on PC earlier this year.

                Re: Dragon Age III: Inquisition

Okay my 6 hours are up so here are my impressions: (spoiler free)

When you start off you will watch a cutscene and immediately go into character editor. From what I seen you have a variety of options. There you select 1 of 3 races: Human, Elf, Dwarf and the new option Quinari. Each race has some forms of passive bonus to them. Afterwards comes the class select. You can choose: Warrior, Rougue, Mage or Archer. Then comes the facial details and stuff that look to be a pretty detailed area.

Then starts your journey. The first area after the prologue is huge. In my 6 hours of playing it felt that I only got about halfway through the area. Keep in my I am a huge explorer in these types of games so I was looking for lots of stuff and completing tons of side quests. There are secrets scattered around and note and maps that show you pictures of monuments and such to find treasure. It reminds me a lot of the treasure maps in Skyrim.

Also enemies do not level with you. At one point I ventured into a area that had a creature that absolutely wrecked my party. After the 3rd or 4th attempted I decided to switch up my approach. I went into tactical view and told my archer to go onto a cliff, had my shield and sword tank warcry and provoke the creature and myself and the other mage rained hell down upon him with lightning and Ice goodness. I was rewarded with the satisfaction of seeing my XP bar grow. This was all done on normal difficulty and I found it to be pretty tough.

The main thing that it seemed like I was fighting with was the inventory sysyem. Just seems a little clunky but after a couple of hours it becomes a secondary thing.

I also experienced enemies spawning on me and pop in occasionally but nothing major.

Overall I can see this game taking up a huge amount of time and can't wait until it releases.

Coming from your typical action shooter gamer and from a guy who never played a DA game I do recommend this game for you. I am sick and tired of playing 6-8hr fps's where the campaigns are just long training tutorials to get you ready for online play.
The non-turn based mostly real time combat in DAI really makes this game attractive to a lot more people.

Personally if I was asking the question I would have worded it the same way. "Can you make your own characters?"
Meaning when I play the game do you create the character/s I'm going to use when I play..

So it could mean different things lol

Yes, some RPGs let you create an entire party of your own.

Meh. That's what DA2 did and it was the lowest received of the DA series. As I said earlier this game is foremost an RPG with actiony elements.

This is more like Origins with faster paced combat.
