Finally started ME1 after it sitting in the wrapper for a few months. I'm about 12 hours in and it's good, actually great, but I'm a bit overwhelmed with how the combat works and the equipment upgrades/swapping. I felt the same way with ME2. I think I went through that whole game and had no real clue as to how things worked. I'm hoping it comes to me better in 1 than I can go back and go through 2 with a sense of what I'm actually doing. Hard to explain I guess.

I love the drop in and out manual saves. Not sure if ME2 had them, like i said i was kinda clueless throughout the entire game but I wish all games had such a feature.

Makes the most outa the few minutes I can steal to play my games lol.

Snap! I forgot i still have this game! Was all into Borderlands 2 but now that i finished it i can get back to this one. I think ive put in 30+ hours omto ME1. I know how you feel Matt but the more you play the more you'll understand the combat. Well for me it did anyways.

Is it better to have your AI partners full on auto or just defense?

If anyone buys used I have a Cerberus code for ME2 and an online pass for ME3 that came with the trilogy. I didn't need them as I already had bought them new in the past.

I have them where they use all the abilities when they can. I think its full. I dont want to micro manage them & they do a decent job at using their abilities. I used to die alot in the beginning but now i rarely do. I cant remember the level i left off at though.

Looks like the msrp for this might be 39.99 now. It's that price on Amazon, Gamestop and the 360 version is that price at Best Buy.

Basically what i do, depending on who I am using in my squad, I will have one of their powers that can knock down shields set as the quick order, then the other squad mate i'll have one that knocks down armor. That way I can direct them if needed quickly, but for the most part I let them do their own thing.

When I take Liara (the blue girl) she makes the whole damn room, people & boxes, fly up in the air! I like to use her once in a while for that skill. I usually take Garrus & Tali though.

About Matriarch Benezia.

Every time I fight Matriarch Benezia the game spazzes out. I nearly had to lose almost an entire mission's worth of progress because I got stuck hovering 10 feet in the air and unable to move. I eventually got out of it through some miracle combined with lots of manual crouching and throwing grenades around.

Also, Jesus, her voice actor, Mariana Sirtis, sounded off in that scene. Maybe that's what they were going for, but she just comes off as weird. The pacing, the dialog options, the fact that she goes from exchanging weird indoctrinated dialogue about being Saren touching her ear or something, then she just stumbles back into the wall and dies.

I feel like the intensity of the decisions in ME3 are more consequential and yet blurred compared to 1 and 2. I guess thats what war does ...

I'm on my cell and can't figure out how to spoiler alert what I just got past, but it was between the Krogans and the Salarians ... and I really struggled with the magnitude of the decision!! Like, actually shut off my console half way through and audibly said "wait ..." ... and proceeded to walk away to sleep on it, lol

So I am on my first play through of the original Mass Effect on PS3.

And I lost Wrex as Ashely wasted him. I was stunned. I will not have my tank for ME2 or 3.

I am just stunned.

I killed him, it was a tough decision but he wasn't falling in line and I couldn't risk having a loose cannon openly disobeying sheppard like that in front of everyone and made him an example lol I also didn't like him

We were having a heated discussion but I thought we work it out and Ashley just took it upon herself to blow him away.

Then she died protecting the nuke.

This game is amazing. The first one is filling in all the questions I had from ME2 and 3.

Can't wait to carry my new Sheppard into the other 2 games!
