I like the concept and can appreciate the heritage, but I can't say I like it as an exotic. Basically it is a selectable medium and high rate of fire AR, scout, and pulse, and as it stand as we've seen it has only two perks, not real strong stats (it's mirroring the OG Khostov now) and no exotic perk. It really needs better base stats, or some decent exotic perk, right now it's just 6 guns in a single slot that lack a third perk.

I saw someone say they thought it'd be a jack of all trades, master of none gun and I agree. They like a nice varied meta. They're not just gonna put a god gun in the game. There's going to be reasons to not use it.

That's cool and all but I think Burns' main point was that as is now its not really an "exotic" weapon with a special exotic trait. It looks cool and it's got a cool lore, but I don't see it being much more than that.

The bolded is what makes it exotic for me IMO, there's not going to be another gun like this at all. Plus, if it did have some intrinsic exotic quality it would be overpowered. Especially since it can mimic a grasp/Doctrine with the perk trees it has in the current meta. Adding an exotic ability over that and well we probably wouldn't be seeing anything else in PvP (well besides the new Thorn anyway)

The doctrine and grasp aren't the only weapons in their archetype, there's a reason they are considered better. Giving up that third perk means that, even if that third perk is a lesser perk, it has an edge.

Don't get me wrong, the gun isn't garbage, but if you are giving up that exotic slot you need to have some return. Sure it can be a high ROF pulse and AR, but there are other guns like those and they will be better because they have another perk. Sure it fills one inventory slot instead of several, but Bungie has indicated well be getting an even larger vault (not outright, but they said after ROI space won't be an issue) and it's so easy to swap weapons that's not really an issue.

I dunno, I'm pretty excited for the Khvostov. I don't think it was ever gonna be a "great" exotic, but more of a nod to the players. I'm cool with that TBH. I mean, once people get the Gjallarhorn, I doubt many people will be running with different exotics anyways in modes that actually require serious effort.

I will say this. The more I read about this expansion, the more excited I get. Destiny is such a comforting game in that regard. No longer how long of a break I take, I'll always go back, either for new content, or for fun.

Doubtful with the way Hand Cannons have been nerfed. But we'll see. Yeah I said YAY, but then remembered. Then I thought should I be happy about this or weary.

They've nerfed Thorn a lot already. Its nothing like it once once, but that quest was one of the best the game had.

Ummmm LOL after reading about the new artifacts I don't see Thorn being toned down but there will be a way the user can limit its power.
