I haven't played this for a number of months since the standalone came out, but reading this makes me want to get back into it. I'll probably get my *** handed to me reading these stories.

You should but be warned DayZ runs on the extremely unoptimized Arma engine. So you should be able to play but you will probably have to dial back some graphic settings, especially if you are in a big city. My gaming rig handles everything I throw at it except Cherno and Elektro. Those two cities like to bring my computer to its knees.

Phobia I died in HC. It was actually pretty hilarious. The bandit shot me on top of a building in Cherno. He must have wasted 60 rounds trying to hit me and in the process of trying shoot me zigging and zagging while trying to hit him with my axe he fell off the roof and died. I bleed out due to my wounds but the frustration I was giving the bandit was so worth it.

Still going strong in standard though.

EDIT: I've made it back to the NW Airfield on HC. Let me know if you are in the area.

Ah, maybe I will wait until it comes to PS4 (whenever that is), or buy a new graphics card...

                      Thanks!

                        lol

I almost died last night( a server reset screwed me though and restarted my character).

I was scavenging near the north east coast in a house when a fresh spawn runs in my room. I pull out my SKS, told him to chill out, I didn't want to harm him. I had no ammo for my SKS but figured he would still think it was loaded. I was wrong, he runs up and punches me. I didn't have anything to fight him with so I take out running, well then I hear him hollering over the mic "Get him man, he is a bad guy". I use alt to swivel my head around and see another guy chasing me. So now I have two fresh spawns chasing me.

We ran for 15 to 20 mins at least, this point I'm starting to starve and dehydrate. They just kept hollering, "you got to stop at some point"!

I finally put a little space between them and me ducking between house, just enough time to grab a shovel before they landed the first punch. I turned and boom, crack the first one knocking him out instantly. I then got into a battle with the second one, but my shovel cut him several times so he was bleeding which I knew if I ran he would have to stop to tear his shirt into rags. So I take off hauling *** and just like I thought he had to stop to bandage. So the knockout blow was critical to even the fight and the cut was key in me getting away.

After I got away I managed to find a shotgun just a couple doors down and I already had ammo in my pack. I turned around and went on the hunt for these two, "No message received 15 seconds.....16 seconds". So I back out, get back into same server and I'm a fresh spawn on the coast

It's best to wait about 5 minutes on the majority of servers before going back in after a reset.

LOL that's awesome. I love the unscripted nature of this game. You never know when you will all of a sudden be fighting for your life. Sucks about the server reset though. There is nothing more frustrating than lose all your gear due to a server reset.

You damn right and I've had it happen at least a dozen times now. I try and not get mad, it is a damn Alpha and people need to quit reviewing a early access game like its a full release. We pay way lower price point to be testers technically. So I normally just restart and hope for the best lol.
