Re: Day Z
Why? Really curious as to why you'd rather play it on a console than a PC? Arma/Day Z seems like one of those games that you really couldn't use a controller for. Kinda like that time I tried to play RO2 with a controller.Comment

Re: Day Z
Several reasons honestly, but I'm not going to get into the laundry list of reasons. I'll just say the exploits and cheating is less on consoles and ease of use with all my buddies who don't have gaming PCs.Comment

Re: Day Z
Fair enough, hackers are sort of abundant on PC and honestly I don't know why. I mean I guess people really just don't want to actually play games they just want them to play for them ala walls and aim hacks. I don't know though, because I feel like hacking on PC games has been around forever and casual gamers who want to "play" a movie are sort of new.Comment

So to sum up why I'll rather see DayZ, Company of Heroes, ARMA 3, or any of the other PC only titles comes to PS4. Its basically a simple PC that anyone can use and the masses exist on. So for me to game with my real life buddies with games I've always enjoyed but they could not experience, this would have to happen.Comment

Re: Day Z
I've been a PC gamer for two decades and while I'll always love PC gaming, I'm happy to see it thriving, and hope that trend continues. I've grown away from my PC gaming, mostly because the ease of use these current consoles bring to the table while retaining almost all the positives of a PC yet without the negatives.

Re: Day Z
For instance lets use ARMA 3 as a example. There is no need to include a "salute" key on console, sure the keyboard can handle it because you have so many disposable keys. While the controller does feature enough buttons, pad, triggers, sticks, and gestures to easily handle the game while retaining the simulation aspect. It could be done, thinking outside the standard control scheme would be needed though. Headtracking support with move/kinect, voice support for issuing orders, or gestures on touch pad.
Another option would be keyboard and mouse support for these consoles. I know the PS3 supported keyboard and mouse. If the PS4 does the same whats holding back this as a extra option for those that want the full key options.
From the RTS stand point, I think it goes hand in hand. Outside the box thinking needs to be done. For instance the PS4 touch pad could be a great possible option for selecting troops.
I think its perfectly doable but some innovation would have to be thought up. These simple suggestions are 30 second quick ideas, put in hundreds of hours into R&D and the solution is out there.Last edited by Phobia; 02-24-2014, 03:32 PM.Comment

I agree to a extent but that is where somethings being sacrificed or innovated is key.

And PS3/PS4 does support keyboard\mouse as far as I know, but its only for system level options, like friends lists, messages, etc. I can't remember if there was an actual game that let you use it in game though as a substitute for a controller.
You could remove the gestures, but then I would say you don't have the optimal Day Z experience since you can't run around giving other people the finger.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Day Z
Well that's the plan with the Steam Controller, in having those track pads act as a mouse to better suit RTS and MOBA's for couch play with a controller.

Re: Day Z
I personally play DayZ and Arma with a controller. Granted it's an xbox controller modded with xpadder so that I have added an entire second layer of controls using a shift button, but I'd much rather play games with a controller leaning back relaxing in my chair rather than sitting upright at my desk.Comment

Day Z Survival Update Adds Cooking, Weapons: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03/...ooking-weapons
On its Tumblr, the DayZ development team outlined new additions to the title arriving with the next update, including a cooking system, new towns, and additional weapons.
The cooking system is part of the game's survival focus and is described as a "key area." The development team said that "players will be able to make normal fireplaces, as well as upgrade them to makeshift ovens." The team has created a texture system for the fire "dealing with 'emissive' textures," and say that coupled with a heat haze effect, it produces "some excellent results."
In addition to the the cooking system and new areas, new weapons are also highlighted, including an improved AKM weapons model.
"We’re working on staging the model now so its compatible with the attachment system and we really hope to bring variety to the possible configurations," said the dev team.
The team's also mentions two new, unnamed areas included in the update, saying only that the map team "has been very busy."
Performance upgrades and bug fixes already started to roll out on the 26th of this month, and the new build will roll out as an unscheduled update "the moment we are confident we have a suitable build to release."Comment

Re: Day Z
Hey guys, I play a mod for ARMA3 called Breaking Point. It's just like DayZ, and that's why I am posting in here. (thought since they are same why make new thread).
If anyone is playing that game currently and want to group up and wreck havoc through the wasteland I am down. I am paired up with chizzypoof, and we are always looking for some extra eyes and storage space.
Or if you don't maybe we can share our experinces with each other. If no one minds its in this thread.
Hopefully I'll see ya around the wasteland!Last edited by dboyswitten82; 04-21-2014, 08:03 PM.Comment

Re: Day Z
Hey guys, this was recorded by Chizzy when we were heading back to town to find him some antivirals. The action doesn't really start till the 3:45 mark, but you can watch the whole thing to get the "back story". The screen will shake, but that is because he is sick. Hope y'all enjoy!
