Just keep it simple for yourself. It took me most of my first playthrough to really start getting all the potions and I still forget some of what's available.

It's as overwhelming as you let it be. You can keep the game simple by focusing on just a few signs, potions, etc. or you can dig deep and use everything available to you.. it's all about how you want to approach the game. There are a few situations where the game basically walks you by hand through a particular necessary potion, though.

    Don't get discouraged yet...

I am obsessed now with TW3.

I ordered the hard cover guide as I want to know all about the lore of the land, the characters, the alchemy etc.

The game is immense. I am taking my time, exploring and enjoying everything each part of the map has to offer.

What a gem. Between this and Primal I am set for a long while in 2016. I can see pouring well over 150- 175 hours into this game (Skyrim I am up to 225 plus hours over the course of 4 years and I still go back to adventure in that game to this day).

The thing that truly separates this game from every other RPG I ever played (including my beloved Skyrim and Dragon Age Origins) is the brilliant story telling, music, voice acting and the incredible side missions. They are so well done!!! It is a huge accomplishment and so much love went into making this game. It oozes passion.

Just in case you didn't know, all of this is based on a series of Novels from a Polish writer. The books take place before the first game so if you really want to learn about the characters and the world, I highly recommend them.

A&S, I hate to break this to you, but you won't be able to go back to Skyrim. Trust me, man. The first time you try will be OK. The next couple of times you'll just be bored with it. It broke my heart too since Skyrim was my favorite game, ever. But it was OK once I realized The Witcher was the game replacing it.

I found this out not long ago. Purchased the Legendary version for $10 on Steam and even with about 100 mods, I got bored quickly. Ultimately, spent more time modding and messing around than actually playing it. Although, from reading around this seems like what most end up doing too.

Doubled dipped on The Witcher 3 for PC and been playing it the past month.

Frustrated me as well. I simply just don't use any of it The branching (glyph?) tree within the options menu, the one where you spend upgrade points, I do use. Other than that I can't recall the last time I've used any of the potions to assist in battles.

I'm up to my eyeballs in nekker eyeballs, brains, drowner brains, etc and have NO idea what to do with any of it besides sell it. Meat n money, along with my basic steel/silver swords (with runes of course) is all I require for my travels. As for the signs, I use igni as well as the sign that slows down/materializes wraiths in order to strike them. I've also had to use the mind bender sign for the ghouls with spikes on their backs. The other two signs I haven't touched since the tutorial and I honestly couldn't even tell you what they do. Haven't been defeated yet.

I like that Witcher contracts are so plentiful in this game because it's one of my favorite things about it. I think I'm inching towards the end if the main quest, but there's still a ton of stuff available to do. This game is going to last me a while.

Nooo dont sell those. You will need to break them down and use the materials for potions or when you are upgrading witcher armor and weapons later on.

Really looking forward to diving into the game this weekend. Seems like I have such limited time for gaming with 2 little ones at home, but I am constantly thinking and reading about The Witcher.

Only a couple hours into the game, I know I am in store for a treat. I just need to not be overwhelmed and just do some free roam.

Man, you guys weren't kidding. I finished up the game last week so I thought I'd get going on the rest of the games in my backlog. Still have Arkham Knight, Far Cry 4, Fallout 4, and Halo 5 to get through. I cannot for the life of me drum up any interest to get started on any of those. Fallout 4 in particular I'm going to have a hard time getting back into. Played a couple hours of that before really diving into TW3, and don't know if I'm gonna be able to get back into it.

Hopefully Blood and Wine comes out soon so that I can go through that and Hearts of Stone together.

Here you go, there are more. But you would need to be able to read Polish as not everything has been translated.
