Pretty sure the minimum recommended level is about 14 in the DZ. Not sure if it's stated anywhere in the game, but I remember reading it on here or reddit. And yeah, you'll accumulate DZ levels really fast when you first hop in. It'll taper off after a while though and require a bit of a grind.

I'm only level 16, but level 14 DZ. There's a purple M1A for sale at my level but DZ 30...looks like I'm leveling in the Dark Zone. It's where I've gotten my best loot as of now anyway. LvL 4 filter so I can hit the subway helped too. Good loot for me down there.

It would take a LONG time to level up to DZ30 in the level 15-20 player bracket. And there's always the risk of dying that can set that progress back.
Personally, what I did for DZ leveling was to go up to the highest level allowed by my current bracket and just farmed purple enemies as much as I could. It ensured I was always well-equipped enough to handle purple groups solo. Once I caught my DZ level up to my character level, I went up to the next player bracket. For example, in the 15-19 player bracket I moved up to character level 19 (with level 19 equipment) and just killed purples until DZ level 19. Then I advanced character level to 20, got placed in the 20-25 DZ bracket and continued the story until reaching level 24. Then back to the DZ, rinse and repeat. Some choose to not touch the DZ until 30 because you get a lot of XP for those kills - I just chose to do it a different way.
Be prepared for frustration when you try to solo the DZ - if rogues dont get you an ambush from an NPC group that spawns behind you will especially at extraction points. I had many setbacks which made reaching DZ level 30 take a lot longer than it should have.

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
Questions for you guys -
I have a bunch of the blue and green crafting materials as well as a few yellow but have yet to acquire a blueprint for the yellow weapons.....are these only in the Dark Zone?
Also, I only have three color groups for the pouches...aren't there supposed to be five color groups?Comment

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
So yesterday figured I would finally give the dark zone a shot at level 11. I went solo since I have been doing everything solo and had randoms help kill enemies and help extract so it was pretty fun.
But shortly after I learned the hard way of going solo as I was fighting a group of 4 AI and had a pair of agents come up behind me a start raining damage down on me. They were level 9 and 10 but with there being 2 and the AI it didn't end well.
So cane back and went hunting for them. Got into a fight in an alley so they couldn't flank me and than a group of 3 more cane up and we destroyed them.
But the most intense moment had to be at the end last night. I was running solo like always and was level 13 so made the trip down into the subways and found good Ole o Reilly down there. Led him to the subway exit before I finally killed him. Went to the extraction zone and looked around and let the glare go.
Waited for the timer and at about 20 second the AI showed up and I got into a fire fight with them and got them and managed to load up my gear.
Started leaving and another group saw me so I fought them and they dropped some good gear so I had to extract that also. And a while bunch of AI showed up for that so I fell back and ended up fighting near the entrance for a while. Even to the point where both my weapons ran out of bullets and I was left with my side arm.
Some how survived and had to extract all that great. Needlessly to say I did that several times had my stash almost completely filled before I was able to leave.
Strange part was at no point did I ever see another agent in that game. But yeah those AI can be a pain when by yourself. I used the supply station and turrent while sniping and having an assault rifle as a secondary weapon.
Thinking I might need to start taking up with people as I have been forced to run quite a few times. So if anyone wants to play I usually play late about 11 central I will be on Xbox.

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
You'll always find stuff for your level in shops. If you came back at level 25 you'd find level 25 guns with that same DZ level 30 requirement. Point is, you can get better equipment from shops the higher your level. And by the same token, anything you buy at your level (before 30) will become outdated quickly.

I dont mind the steady gear change either. Its an RPG staple so im used to it. Besides, coming from playing Destiny and how stingy the loot is there the more drops the merrier.HELLO BROOKYLN.

The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
I went thru the other thread and added gamer tags from it to my friends list. Usually when I play the game I see about 30 people online playing so I just pop in to one that is open.

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
You're further along than me and I've played every day. The amount of hours some have put in would literally be impossible for me, even if I chose not to sleep.
Fine with me though... I was hoping this would last me a long time single player wise and it's certainly fitting that bill.Comment

The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
Speaking of which... 18 hrs and 18 min, currently at level 11. Apparently I'm really taking my sweet *** time wandering around, lol.
The 18 hrs surprises me honestly, although I guess I did play quite a bit yesterday and for a couple of hours tonight.Last edited by DickDalewood; 03-14-2016, 11:32 PM.Comment

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
I'm a slow poke as well I don't play for hours on end usually an hour maybe two then I take a break to do something else. I do tend to get sidetracked as I'm on my way to an objectives. That's what I love about the game you can play it at your own pace."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
Took a break from DZ and went and collected all 293 Intel reports, a little mind numbing but Netflix helped.
However two echos are still showing active on the map, Tenderloin and Kips Bay. It's a known issue and should be fix soon I'd think.
The jackets you get for rewards are neat, same style just color changes.Comment
