    Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)

So how hard is it to get item level 31 pieces to drop? I don't think I have a single piece yet. I crafted the high end Vector, and just received a high end mask from the DZ this morning, but neither are level 31. Is it random?

Also, at the point I'm at, is it worth it to farm General Assembly or just run the DZ? I see a lot of people on reddit farming the crap out of General Assembly.

My perception of the dark zone, from closed beta and onward, was a high end pve area primarily that also has a tense and always present possibility of open world pvp at anytime. I didn't think it would become Team Deathmatch.
This sums up my thoughts perfectly. Even from the beta, the dark zone was never intended to be a massive Team Deathmatch or Free For All. If that was the case, they wouldn't have the penalties of XP loss for dying, you would just lose your gear you're carrying or something.

Like Jare stated, I view it was a higher tier, harder PVE. All the enemies are basically Veteran and Elite, there's a lot more of them, they're in larger groups, and you'll get destroyed by them if you're not high level enough, don't have good enough gear, or aren't prepared for them when they show up.

I view it as that. with the option of going rogue and making it PVP if you so desire to. Some people may want to do nothing but go rogue, and that's fine with me! As long as they're willing to accept the risks (higher loss of XP for dying as rogue and the much increased likelihood of being chased by a massive group of rogue hunters).

Going rogue does have some positives. You get whatever gear (or at least the publicly dropped gear) that player is carrying when you kill them and if you manage to survive long enough for your rogue or manhunt timer to expire, you can get a massive XP boost. But, there is also the negative of you become a hunted man and lots of people will try to kill you.

As Jare said, I much prefer it now, because there is absolutely no reason why I should lose XP or levels because someone wants to go around killing everyone. If I'm not rogue, I don't want to lose XP or levels that I've worked hard for just because some jackass wants to go around ambushing or popping every person he comes across.

Hell, if there's enough desire for a Team Deathmatch type set-up, make a completely separate dark zone that you specifically have to enter for that kind of anything goes O.K. Corral setup. But the dark zone is already tense enough just with the thought that any one person you come across might be about try and kill you, along with the loads of Veteran and Elite NPCs that you constantly run into. I really can't say a dark zone that essentially devolves into never ending shootouts, PVP killing and dying and constant bands of rogues hunting down anyone and everyone really appeals to me. If I wanted that stuff, I'd go play Call of Duty.

pretty sure that high-end vector is item level 31, if you got it from the tech wing vendor in the base.

to check, scroll down to the bottom of the weapon details. it'll list what item level it is.

I actually just made a reply in the Division crew thread around two hours ago, somehow completely missed your reply from yesterday.

I live up in the northwest corner in Defiance, about half way between Toledo and Fort Wayne.

If you follow or pay any attention to high school sports at all, you're likely familiar with the name. They won state championships in both baseball and basketball last spring, along with past titles in baseball (1992, 2013) and football (1997).

Throw in 6 baseball ACME state championships since 2006, along with Jon Niese pitching for the NY Mets and Chad Billingsley pitching for the Dodgers and Phillies, and Defiance has become a well known name around the state when it comes to baseball.

I don't know the specifics on all these DZ gripes... But I am confused at the perception.

Isn't the DZ supposed to be PvP with PvE elements? Since the entire rest of the game is based around PvE and there is no competitive matchmaking?

The whole purpose is you never know who is an enemy or when they'll be one. You're not supposed to run a round and loot everything without a care (like the rest of the games dynamic). You're supposed to be worried, supposed to be scared..

I think my biggest problem is how easily you can end up going rogue. See I don't see a problem with the punishment if you deserve it but the amount of people walking into fire lines attempting to get hit makes it annoying.

Like last night my friend was sniping and got someone in the head. Didn't kill him but we were rogue. Essentially we saw other agents we went in a different direction to try to avoid possibly sitting them. Makes it hard to want to help people because you could possibly buy them.

but I don't know how to fix that. Unless maybe you only go rogue if you kill but you would have people abuse that by shooting some one during a fight to have the AI kill them. So in the end trolls ruin good aspects of games lol

Which you already are and it is already like. There are still rogues. There are still players who will kill you and you can never be certain if you're safe or not. But some complaints, not necessarily on here, but elsewhere, some seem to want to make it where there are way better incentives to going rogue and essentially turn the Dark Zone into the wild west with endless shootouts and player killing.

It was like that during the beta because who cared how much XP you lost from dying with a manhunt on you, it was all going to be lost after the beta ended anyways. I much prefer it now. While extractions are supposed to be high tension moments because you're fearful of someone gunning you down, what the hell is the point if going rogue is made more incentivized and it turns into every extraction point becoming an endless killing field and no one can successfully extract gear?

Yeah, that they really need to change. They need to up the limits for going rogue. Instead of these low limit accidental rogues because of people walking in front of you during gunfights, or the douchebags apparently intentionally trying to get in the middle of firefights to make people go rogue, they either need to make the limits where you have to intentionally be trying to go rogue or someone differentiate between someone intentionally shooting somehow and someone getting hit by a stray bullet in crossfire with NPCs.

Sadly, there will always be douchebags and trolls trying to ruin the fun. Just look at the morons doing nothing but standing in doorways at safe houses during the first day of the game, all to troll and grief other players. It's like "congrats, you spent $60 or $100 to just stand in a doorway and interfere with the experience and games of strangers. Talk about being a born loser."

other agents in the DZ are neutral until someone goes rogue.

yeah, you can shoot anyone, but if you go rogue, everyone will know where you are(rogues "ping" on the map) and can shoot and kill you without penalty.

I think what a lot of people don't factor into the incentive of going rogue is all of the XP, $, and loot that they gain WHILE killing other players, and only looking at the end result of whatever they get when the timer finally expires, saying that's not enough. I know from killing rogues that player kills are worth a lot of XP by themselves.

BTW, I'm always tense in the DZ because I still see plenty of people trying to take my stuff at extractions. I really don't feel like this problem is anywhere near as serious as it's made out to be.

I wish they would add a Dark Zone 7 solely for PvP related instances where you can get rewards. Maybe even add in some objective modes like Capture the Flag or something.

Me and my group are having a blast fighting the AI and they make it challenging enough, we've had many "OH CRAP" moments and it's been great. Seems like the more they try to funnel us towards PvP in the Dark Zone, the more exploits people will try to find to get the advantage.
