Re: No Man's Sky
Pretty frustrating day for me on NMS earlier. Had three crashes within a 30 minute span, which was one more than I had since the game came out on the 9th. I just quit playing after the third crash. Going to try it again now.
Also, what is the basis for seeing bigger ships in space stations and such? I have noticed that ships are beginning to show more inventory slots, and are a lot larger size in general, but what is it that I am doing that makes the game show bigger ships?NHL: Chicago Blackhawks

Re: No Man's Sky
Things change during game development, and sometimes drastically. When I was at SRRN Games and we were making Ash 2, we ripped out the entire battle system twice before we settled on something we were happy with.
Could there have been better communication about the changes, that said? Absolutely.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
The problem is that they never said yes or no to the question or to a lot of questions. For me, I took everything as a no until they definitively said yes with this game. I'm glad I took that approach because I lowered my expectations quite a bit and had a lot of issues/questions with the game and a lot of you all saw that before release. I honestly figured I would've gone through Steam for a refund, but here I am 4 hours later and I haven't even landed on another planet or moon.
There was just too many times that Sean was flat out asked about multiplayer and physically being with another player and he could have easily said no, you can't see someone physically, but he never did. He either would say yes or just avoid really answering it or ruling it out at all. This led to too many people getting their hopes up and thinking multiplayer is in because Sean never said no for sure. That is how he handled too many questions and is why I previously said that he and Hello Games have been a PR nightmare. They handled themselves terribly in the media. Had they been honest I don't believe reviews would've been so split. There are other issues with the game with crashes and performance overall, fortunately I've ran into no issues so far, but I think that coupled with the disappointment of the hype built from the lack of clarity in the answers by the devs has led to more backlash than there would've been had they been honest and blunt from the start.
Being vague or leading people on for years is not okay. Tweeting out the answer hours before release does not make up for that. As popular as Twitter is, tons and tons of people would've never seen that tweet. I never saw it until I saw the post a bit ago with the link to it and I've kept up with this game more than your average consumer likely did.
This is a good game. I'm happy I purchased it despite all of my worries. My lowered expectations were a blessing in disguise. I really hope they do build on the game over time and in a year or two from now we'll look back and wonder how we even enjoyed the "vanilla" game because of what it became.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Not my video, and I am not personally implying anything. All I am relaying is that he has said as such. I don't really care either way multiplayer or no multiplayer.NHL: Chicago Blackhawks

Re: No Man's Sky
I do wish the game had the ecosystem running on a more complex system. I've only played 4 to 5 hours so it's possible I've just not been exposed to some things, but so far on my first planet there was only one species that attacked me. All others were plant eaters or skittish.
It seems like all of the animals just spawn in and walk/run random paths and don't really have any point to being there expect of the visual aspect or the small bonus find for when you feed them. I'd love for their to be a food chain, I'd love to see some pack animals that actually swarm their prey and use tactics that you see here on Earth with animals. I'd like to see animals stalking others, even you. I'd love to see nests or dens for animals and the player needs to be observant to figure out whether or not they're in a den or not(imagine The Grey, but No Man's Style).
Obviously it would be extremely tough for them to go real in depth and have animals with a real population and not just spawns. Cycles that could cause some species to go extinct before a player ever finds them. Those would be great additions, but I am realistic enough to understand those would be extremely hard for such a small team to achieve in any updates. I would still like to see what I listed above though. I've only been attacked by the one animal on my planet and it's a 3 foot tall crab like creature without big pinchers(pincers?) and I don't even recall an attacking animation. All I know is that it was weak and I could escape it pretty easily and any attack had no affects on me.
Do other animals actually have some affects on the player? Maybe they poison you, slow you down, etc.? Do all animals attack you bluntly or do any have some sort of acid they can throw at you? I guess these are things others would love to find on their own, so any answers to them could be put in spoilers.
This game has tremendous potential and I know that a lot of what I see in my head will never make it to the game, but it doesn't hurt to dream if you don't allow it to shape your views on what we do have.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: No Man's Sky
I'm still in my rust bucket. Just got done playing. What's amazing is hours go by and you don't even realize how much time went by. Oh, stay away from the planet Suoyabrs Drai. What a POS planet that was. I left so fast, I didn't even bother to rename it.
Spoiler
Soon as you exit your ship, you're swarmed by beetles.

Re: No Man's Sky
Steam says I have played for 24 hours. That seems like I should be embarrassed considering it was just released on PC yesterday. I find myself saying "ok time for a break" and I'll decide just do one more thing but that one thing turns into a dozen other things.
What path are you guys following through the game?"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."
