I am using a lot of pop culture (Prog rock, sci-fi/monster movie) to name my systems and planets.

Plenty in that tank to keep naming stuff. The moment I come to a system/planets that someone else discovered will be a really cool moment.

Knowing what to look for, think I got my exosuit from only 1 upgrade to I think 18 slots at lunch, and came across my first 2 crashed ships (down/sidegrades).

So how do you get a 48 slot ship in No Man’s Sky? Well, you can always try buying one, but it’s not easy. For starters you’ll need an obscene amount of money, and you’ll also need to be lucky enough to meet an alien driving one around at the same time as you happen to be carrying a gazillion Units in your space wallet.

If you’re determined to get a 48 slot ship, you can force No Man’s Sky to give you one by hunting down and repairing crashed ships. Thanks to jordyvanhuissteden on Reddit, we’re pretty sure that crashed ships in No Man’s Sky will always have one more or less inventory slot than your current rig. In other words, every time you visit a new crashed ship you’ve got a 50% chance of finding an upgrade.

Similarly to how you always wear your best gear when you visit the Cryptarch in Destiny, you can force the game to give you progressively better crashed ships simply by taking every upgrade you find as you play No Man’s Sky. Every time your inventory slot increases by one, you unlock the possibility of finding a crashed ship with one more slot – all the way up to the 48 slot ships.

To find crashed ships in No Man’s Sky, fly over planet surfaces looking for beacons emitting an orange light. Craft a bypass chip (iron and carbon) and use it on the beacon, and there’s a very good chance you’ll receive the location of a crashed ship in return.

If the crashed ship you find has one better inventory than your current vessel, repair its damaged systems and swap on over. You only need to repair the pulse engine and launch thruster, which is easily achieved with resources found on every planet in No Man’s Sky, so the cost is virtually nil.

For those having trouble connecting to the online services on ps4, run a Test Internet Services from the network settings.

I hadn't been for two days straight and that got me back on.

The ship thing is what I'm doing now, need lots of heridium and iron. Gotta make sure you have heridium before hopping into a new ship, otherwise you are hoofing it.

For those having trouble connecting to the online services on ps4, run a Test Internet Services from the network settings.

I hadn't been for two days straight and that got me back on.

Almost the same way when you do the 'disconnect/reconnect to Internet' checkbox in the PS4 options to get the Store to load back up or the What's New wall to load when it acts up.

I noticed it still is sporadic and bounces you off and on. Definitely needs a patch, or they need more servers, lol.

With the new update to the 4.00 Firmware coming soon, you may be able to 'pin' the internet settings to the Quick Menu, which can help in those instances as well.

My starting planet has massive towers of heridium all over the place, and iron galore as well. So instead of ignoring those ships to repair and just getting tech from them, I am going to start taking advantage of it while I can.

I wonder if you claim your DLC ship after you have more than the starting slots, it will let you have the same slots, only 'skinned' for the DLC look... anyone test this?

Not really a fan of the +/- 1 upgrade system, kind of reminds me of when it's annoyingly obvious the world levels with you in other games. Should be a larger range at least.

Oh how I really disliked that in Oblivion. It was a cheap way to not have a do any real enemy balancing/zoning/instances. You never felt 'powerful' really. Just new pretty effects.

Thank goodness for mods on the PC in that respects.

This is a bit different in a way, since you are effectively 'grinding them out' like levels, only not having to do it the hugely expensive way for those unlucky to find planets of gold/cubes.

But I definitely get what you are saying.

I'm naming planets using a combo of family members who've passed on, my favorite sports teams/players, and when possible using info from the planet itself

Yea, you're right, it is very sporadic. I was disconnected from services pretty quickly.

I just pick a word that is close to what the original name was. Just named a planet "Wutangia" because the name reminded me of Wu Tang Clan

I just picked a letter and whatever the word that pops up I choose that. I do that a few times and I have a planet name. So I have a few strange planet names like find the baby.

I had one of the worst and best experiences in the game today..... My ship got caught on a rock as I was taking off and it stuck to it and blew up and I died, so when I razed my ship was on the rock in the air. My jetpack wouldn't reach it there was nothing I could do. It didn't help that I was on a water based planet, so I decided I'd walk and swim till I found a place where I could summon my ship.... 3 hours later I found a crashed ship with one more slot than my current so I had to spend an hour repairing the ship... All this as the game kept crashing for the first time for me. Anyways when I finally got back in the air it was about 5 hours, but man it really felt like I accomplished something I really didn't think Id find a way to get another ship... I really like this game if they keep adding updates it could really be something special
