And there are also things on that list that have yet to be proven/disproven with 18 quintillion planets out there. "I have not seen the brontosaurus, therefore, it does not exist." Huh?

It is a disingenuous comparison at best when you consider all of the factors, and not just isolated 'bullet points'.

If he becomes a repeat offender, then make the comparison. Even the Molyneux Effect was not what it was until he himself repeated a few times as well.

And man, reading some of those posts on both Reddit and NeoGAF, you would think people are patron saints. A lot do go way overboard and out of their way to flat out stifle every 'middle ground' conversation that pops up. I seen them piling on those people and bullying them out of the threads. But no, no agendas or anything. Staying away from those sites for a while. Very toxic.

Constructive criticism = good... yet it will be drowned in the sea of vitriol.
I agree with you....that post has a lot of vitriol too...But I do think there is some good true info buried. Those people just feel burned so lash out (as internet people do).

Sean Murray is not Molyneux though....He will probably learn from this and not make the same choices again. Molyneux did this time in and time out. Both were dreamers, but Peter didn't adjust at all.

Murray didn't do this on purpose, he was vague because the game was changing and got caught a little bit. It happens in development.

Fun but limited is pretty accurate. Being a trader or a pirate is just not viable, leaving you with an exploration and survival experience.

I think people forget that these developers are actual human beings, and have great ideas about want they want their games to become. They talk about ideas, what they want accomplish and people take that as facts. If something is missing the whole world is ending, they were lied too, blah blah blah. Life is too short.

I understand that critique. I went into this game like a 'choose your own adventure novel', because the art, game design, interviews, etc., oozed with that.

Now being one of those things (right now) may be not as meaningful as other games that focus solely on that as a main gameplay arc, however, I always felt I had to use imagination and a bit of self role-play in that regards going in. So my expectations were more tempered I suppose.

I was of the understanding this was mainly and 'exploration and survival' game first and foremost.

With that said, I will not be against more meaningful impact addictions, however.

This is definitely true in a lot of cases.

Some people are so quick to throw labels on other people in today's climate. Even without all the evidence or even hearing the reasoning/sides of the story.

For some reason my performance got worse after downloading the new Nvidia drivers. Bummer. Sounds like an official patch is coming soon though so I'll live.

Is there a benefit to having the newest driver now? What I mean is, roll back until you see if the patch addresses it?

Mine did too, but I reset all settings and adjusted again and all the issues went away. Game plays smooth now.

Oh nice. You mean like in-game settings, like go to the menu restore default? Or you mean nvidia control panel settings?

                  Thanks for the input

In game only. I just hit reset then adjusted to my liking then reboot for the win.

Now that you mention this, I remember seeing a post form some people yesterday saying to do this very same thing, and it corrected it.

Also there is a counter proof on some things people claim are not in the game. It is always about perspective on where to look sometimes.

Just because you personally have not seen something in the game, does not mean it's not in the game

Fixed all hitching 100%. Very smooth after. Haven't played w/ it + the new drivers I installed last night though.

Kinda feel the tug of gaming ADD, w/ Madden out today.

If Sean Murray once came out and told us what wouldn't be in the game compared to the years of hype, I'd understand you guys defending him. I'd get it.

But how are you pretending he and the studio didn't fail to deliver on what they said was in the game? There is a giant thread outlining with evidence, everything that was said to be in and ultimately not in the game. Yet y'all keep saying gamers overhyped themselves and aren't using facts. Are you intentionally trolling or what?

I am about that constructive criticism, not about the loud vitriol that drowns out constructive feedback that those posts always turn into. Not saying the posts should not exist either, they just serve as an echo chamber more often than not.

Not denying the shortcomings at all. Just not subscribing to the court of public executioners. And hype is always self inflicted (subjective). Nobody can force you to exceed normal levels of excitement. People can criticize the devs for over promising and under delivering... but at the same time, should accept responsibility when it comes to 'hype'.

There are also those of us willing to stand in the middle, enjoy what we have, and wait for interviews and explanations, and hopefully free game updates.
