I really like how the pulse engine tracks onto something that you've tagged (often a location on a faraway planet) and won't auto-disengage it until you're directly over the top of it. Such a great QoL.

Just a heads up! Apparently, there is a fix (PC users) but the loss is still concerning.

Hello Games has deployed another hotfix for No Man's Sky. This latest patch is currently available on PC (with other platforms following soon) and addresses a number of other bugs that have cropped up in the wake of the big Next update, most notably an issue that would apparently wipe players' save data.

Following the Next update, many players have discovered that their save data would display their playtime correctly but load from the beginning of the game, apparently erasing their data. PC players have figured out their own workaround to this issue and detailed it on Reddit, but the new 1.51 patch should resolve the issue for all players.

Another hotfix patch is on the way for No Man's Sky, this one fixing an issue that would appear to erase players' save data.

Is that what's happening? Man I thought I was just randomly flying in space and had no idea how to stop.

Feeling very grindy right now, and I like it.

Wanting to move on from this first system. It is either freezing or lava on all of the planets! Need to find some more resources. But honestly that's been a lot of fun!

The view from my new base. Planet is barren but it has those Larval Core or Glowing balls as I like to call them worth 95,000 each! Figure I can get my rover going and start scouring the plant for my fortune! lol!

If you're talking about trying to warp travel, there's one resource in particular that you need and it's not found on every planet. Scan a planet before you enter its atmosphere and can see what resources it has.

If you don't know what resource I'm talking about, follow the awakenings mission a bit more. It'll walk you through what you need and you'll get some blueprints for some vital technologies.

I'm intentionally being vague because part of the fun in this game is discovery.

I should have known to keep following the pop-ups! Haha! I'll keep giving it a go on these planets, just excited to get to exploring. I literally just spent an hour just flying in space. It was so relaxing and fun!

My second planet had rings and it was like 80% water. Pretty neat to see something like that is finally possible. They've really done well with the updates.

What happens to my base at my starter planet if I decide to move? And should I just continue following the quest line before I even think about moving?

So I just loaded my game and the thermal protection upgrades I installed yesterday have mysteriously disappeared. WTF??

Edit! Looks like that was one of the bugs fixed in the Patch. Guess I'll go play something else until the patch drops on PS4.

Got a little side project to my normal gameplay - going to try to fix this ship up as I progress:

As you can see, I have some work to do:

Think I'm going to base up right here too, around this ship. The planet's not too bad - perfectly temperate daytime, but nighttime gets cold enough to be slightly damaging and there are occasional firestorms. But it'll be easier to get back to repair the ship if I make a base here.

Oh, also....I own a freighter now. So storing multiple ships is a thing once I can get the ship off this rock.

So I spent the first 20 minutes or so last night just kinda running around like, wtf, I don't know anything about what I'm supposed to do about anything...

... tonight I get back on and procure the parts needed to get my ship off the ground. Holy ****, that feeling you get when you first jettison into space away from your first planet. Nothing short of amazing.

As I understand it, in NEXT, you can build unlimited number of bases so your initial base would still be sitting on your starter planet as you build another elsewhere.

How did you come across the freighter? I thought I was supposed to get one through the atlas story line but I’m afraid I messed up or missed my chance at a free one since I think I’m done the story line.

Edit: looks like I just gotta fly around and hope the mission triggers if I’m understanding what I’m seeing online.
