Think I'm going to base up right here too, around this ship. The planet's not too bad - perfectly temperate daytime, but nighttime gets cold enough to be slightly damaging and there are occasional firestorms. But it'll be easier to get back to repair the ship if I make a base here.

Oh, also....I own a freighter now. So storing multiple ships is a thing once I can get the ship off this rock.
This game looks awesome.. where can I download this?

After this latest update, No Man's Sky is pretty much the video game I've always wanted. It's like a Bethesda game, with all of the cool exploration, discovery and crafting elements but none of the awkward character dialogue and clunky combat. I can see myself playing this for a very long time.

Would websites ever consider re-reviewing games with this level of patch? Kind of like what some sites did for the Ultimate Edition Blu-ray of Batman v. Superman after it completely changed people's perception of it (including mine)?

I still wish there was more to discover. I feel it will happen someday.

Not to say discovering a new planet isnt cool but I want to land on a planet and discover some ridiculous looking building with some story behind it, or find a cavern difficult to navigate through but burying treasure and strange creatures you can't find in the surface. Same with underwater.

Maybe some of that is there and we haven't heard much about it.

Right. Before the game released, I thought that it was possible we could land on... well... something as complex as Earth. Not literally, but the point being you don't just land and go: "Oh, now the ground is purple and the sky is green. Hey, I've blasted that material before."

And as you said, environments that kind of tell a story. Why does this one have this big mountain, and what is at the top of it? What lives under the deepest part of this ocean?

The procedurally-generated planets make it cool in the sense of not knowing what you're going to find, but this game doesn't quite hit those levels of "never before seen" or fall in the Easter egg rarities, so to speak.

They should. It will be interesting to see what the scores are for the xbox version because NEXT is the first version released on xbox.

For those who are new to the game or those who haven't played it for awhile and forgot, on PS4 if you press the R1 and X (jetpack) you get a more of a vertical thrust forward instead of going up with just the X button.

Edit: looks like I just gotta fly around and hope the mission triggers if I’m understanding what I’m seeing online.
Yeah, pretty much. Although if you're late in the game you might just be able to buy one and skip the event I went through (though it's not difficult).

There might be a bug with them though (more specifically frigates) - I sent one on a mission and it got damaged, so I recalled it and was prompted to fly to the frigate and fix the damage myself. There are apparently 2 damaged stations, and one was marked and easy for me to fix. But it still says there's one station damaged, even though nothing is marked. And I can't send it out again until it's repaired, so the frigate's just sitting there for now.

Shame too, because I made A LOT of units (money) on that mission where it got damaged.

                    EDIT: Common problem apparently:

                    https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTh...r_frigate_all/

Oh yeah, that ship I was working on is off the ground now - I only needed to fix the launch thrusters and pulse engine to get it moving. The majority of the damage blocks slots I can use though, and those repairs require resources I'll have to hunt for.

The ship is nice for several reasons, but I think the biggest is a more efficient launch system - it only takes 25% of its fuel tank to lift off in Survival mode as opposed to the 50% my starter ship does. Lifting off in Survival mode from a non-launch pad is a pain.

EDIT: Looks like a patch dropped on PS4. Probably fixes the lost saves issue (which fortunately didn't happen to me).

I just got a patch on Xbox too. Which is a shame because I only had 30 minutes to play right now and was going to try and trigger that freighter mission. Probably not going to bed tonight until I get one. Then my plan is to find another ship just like you and setup shop near it. Hopefully on a decent planet.

I appreciate your help. Do I need to warp again to trigger the mission or can I just try visiting the freighters in my current galaxy?

I really want to dig into this update, but the game now very noticeably chugs on PS4 Pro walking around on planet surfaces (playing in 4K with HDR). Frame rate dips all over the place, much worse than before 1.5. It's quite aggravating.

I probably need to upgrade my gaming situation because I obviously love this game and want to play it, haha.

Upgrade from the Pro? But how?

Sounds like they need another patch.

With the new update this has been a problem for quite a few people. Lucky for me I can't play this weekend, hopefully they have another patch soon.
