Re: No Man's Sky
Cain't remember which of the updates had the new story mode with it, but its enough for me to start the game over. However, I'm stuck! Cain't decide which of the game play modes I want to select. Those who started and are in deep, any suggestions? Feelings? Experiences? ThanksComment

Re: No Man's Sky
Did I not read something about being able to build bases underwater now? Is there any type of ship or vehicle that can travel underwater?
Has anyone seen anything about mechs? There were some in the NEXT trailer...These days I'm less like "Jailhouse Rock" Elvis and more like "dying alone on the toilet" Elvis.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
Jeez. This is basically a brand new game. I only ever put around 25 to 30 hours when the game first came out. I had fun with it, enough to get those kinds of hours, but it wasn't too deep. I played after one update for a day, but that was it. I didn't play after the update before NEXT, but I did just fire it up yesterday to start a new Survival game with the new patch and I am amazed. They could have released this as No Man's Sky 2 really. If this was the game we were given at launch so many people would be calling it a potential GOAT because it does live up to a lot of that hype. There are still some things I wish were deeper, but I do think that is in part to my expectations being higher than reality at the moment.
I wish there were more elements and whatnot that were generated that even the devs didn't exactly know and that the players could find what they did through trial and error. I'd love to see that progress into the player being allowed to make their own tech in a way and the game being a huge batch of even more discovery than it already is. The thought of some random player finding a system that has unique elements that combine to make the most amazing fuel that or the best armour for your ship is something I dream of, but I do see where maybe we just aren't there yet with games and their techs. It'd be hard for them to create an algorithm that really was balanced and created just as much diversity in tech/elements as it does with planets/solar systems. If they ever got that far with the series I'd be in trouble.
I agree that the new clouds look nice, but are blurry. I thought maybe it was where my planet was so hot it was messing with my visuals from my gear, but maybe not? I haven't left my planet yet. Survival is the real deal and I am having to pick and choose when to waste energy on my current planet. I do love what they have done to the elements/resources right now. It is so much better than what it was like at launch. The animals I've seen to this point aren't as ridiculous as some I saw at launch, but I'll need to explore a few systems to really see how improved it is. I'll never forget the 10 feet jumping mushrooms that squealed I found in one system shortly after launch. It was funny, but disappointing to see something so silly looking. This was another aspect I probably had my expectations set unrealistically high in. I was hoping animals would be based off of their environments more so that it would seem like some evolution took place, but I can also see how ridiculous that would be to implement into the game. I also had hoped, and this ties into what I talked about earlier, that we would be able to discover certain lifeforms that had traits about them we could learn from to build tech.
Enough of my dreams, though. The game has progressed tremendously. Like I said, this could be considered a brand new game, really. I do hope many are giving it a chance again because everyone who owns the game should get the opportunity to finally experience the game we thought we were getting. It's there at this point.
Now it is time to go back to exploring.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: No Man's Sky
Is the second planet you visit now always going to be Earth-like (to accomodate easier base-building)? I played for a few hours on Normal, then switched to Survival once I had a handle on the new mechanics. Both times the second planet didn't put a drain on my Environmental Protection Suit (well, except when a super-heated rainstorm came along - beggars can't be choosers)
I thought it was odd because I'd never seen a human-life supporting planet before this update. I didn't spend a huge amount of time with the game before then, but enough that I visited a whole lot of planets, so I found it surprising.
Survival's no joke - in addition to sparser resources, there also seem to be more sentinels and more active pirate ships out in space. At this point I'm not sure how to get away from a fight that I don't want - pirate ships will even follow me into a planet's atmosphere and dogfight me above the surface!
I would like to play permadeath sometime, but if living is this hard on survival that's not going to be happening for a while...lolComment

Re: No Man's Sky
Maybe this is common so I apologize if it is, but one time I found a planet that had these weird pods that looked like they were from Alien and inside was an orb like that and it was worth a ton of units.
Only problem was, as soon as I'd take one, the sentinels went NUTS. So, I worked out a system where I'd land close to a cave entrance, find 6 or so of those pods and remember where they were, take them as fast as possible and run back to the ship. Usually could safely get 6. I'd repeat this until my tiny inventory was full and then fly to a space station to sell. Tedious but lucrative. It would be sooo much lucrative now with a nearby base, larger inventory, and exo vehicle.
This was before bases or teleporters. OMG I wish I remembered the name of the planet so I could go back now haha.
Don't know about the underwater base building, but the roamer exocraft can be taken into the lakes/oceans and driven on the bottom though it's a bit slow.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: No Man's Sky
Two quick pictures of my guy at a space station. Currently on this red planet that has been so much fun to carve with my terrain blaster!

Re: No Man's Sky
My kids are frustrated. Got a second copy of the game and they tried the multiplayer but my daughter can’t go on my son’s ship. And she didn’t respawn with a ship or a base and so is stuck by herself. Is this normal? They are disappointed.
Edit: I copied over an old saves file to the second PS4 and she is now happy lolLast edited by rudyjuly2; 07-25-2018, 05:54 PM.Comment
