I never heard of it until I started following NMS and saw the comparisons.

I need to try both ED and Star Citizen at some point in time....

Hmm. So they plan to add walking on planets. Cool.

Walking around is what I like most about NMS.

Yeah, it is still may be a ways off, and there is no definitive order to the expansion plans listed.

Last I heard of the game, I think is it's timed exclusivity ends with Microsoft of Oct of this year. We should be getting a release date soon for the PS 4. Wouldn't be surprised if we hear about PS VR too. Frontier Developments offer support for the vive and rift.

Yeah, I was surprised I got a response so fast on Twitter. Said, 'soon', so that would line up.

              Re: No Man's Sky

Watched the entire 52 minute video of Star Citizen from Gamescom and my goodness, game looks absolutely stunning with minimal to no pop-in and no loading at all. Sadly, I was hoping that it was playable solo but it's not and the chances of it being ported to Neo/Scorpio is non-existent because the game is CPU heavy and neither Neo/Scorpio would be able to run it. Shame too because I really want to play it after watching that video. LOL.

As for No Man's Sky, watching the Angry Joe review, they removed a lot of stuff which is disappointing because the stuff that was removed sounded so damn good. Will definitely pick up NMS but not until it hits $20. Basically, Black Friday.

I am wishing for one as well. Maybe someone will pick up the license for the 'Reboot Trilogy' of the movie series when it hits... but how I wish for SG1/Atlantis version 100-fold.

I weep till this day from the cancelled MMO.

I finally found the blueprint for one of the higher Atlas passes (v3, for some reason it skipped v2) and I could find out what was behind these doors.......sigh.

That sigh sounds troubling.......Should we even care about them is the question.

So I guess the PC population has already lost about 90% of the people who were initially playing it.

Not surprised. I played it through the platinum, but even then I was struggling to find something interesting to do. There's not enough progression, outside of upgrading your ship and suit, nothing else really changes.

The stories about the three races were interesting, but short with really no payoff.

Getting to the center I give up on, it's just flat out the second most boring chore I've done in a game (1st is cheesing the APC in the Division where you stood in one spot and shot it with sticky bombs for hours). You warp in little chunks, have to stop maybe every 15 warps to land on some vaguely recognizable planet to restock on elements to make warp cells.

My final opinion is this game is pure mediocrity. Technical issues aside, there's nothing this game does horribly, but it also doesn't do anything particularly well. Survival is shallow and not at all challenging, even without any upgrades. Space combat is very shallow, ground combat just as bad if not worse. Mining is very simple, find a giant chunk sticking out from the ground and shoot it. Crafting is mundane, no finesse there. Being able to fly from space to planet is novel, but since the planet can change dramatically from space to ground it's less exciting. Ultimately it feels like a game that had a new idea, procedurally generating a galaxy of worlds and everything on them, but then couldn't decide how to fit that into a game. I can't even say it's a good tech demo for the procedurally generated worlds thing, I mean sure they are procedurally generated, but pretty quickly you see patterns emerging and it becomes less about 4 quintilian unique planets and more about what of about 2 dozen planet types each falls into.

I would say 7/10 is a fair grade if you ignore the vast technical issues, maybe as low as 5.5 if you consider them.

A very fair assessment of the game.

I have not played in 2 days......and probably won't play again till this weekend. It will be a casual game for me. I have explored over 20 planets......done space combat, resource mining. All of it. It reallyiq a casual, light escape type game for me...with no plot other than what I imagine in my head.

Escapism video gaming. My hope is they support the game with content added and build off of it. The potential is huge for a lot more. If they don't add nothing else I will be gravely disappointed.

But I love exploring and taking photos of my adventures and playing with no urge to really finish.....as I don't really think I will ever get to the center in under a year anyway....I play way too much Madden and The Show.

This is nice a change of pace for me.
