 Re: Assasins Creed Unity

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was my own personal 2013 game of the year and a 9/10 in my opinion. I'm currently replaying it now on Xbox 360.

Played Assassin's Creed III while waiting for Black Flag to be released and I quit on sequence IV as it was just so boring, slow paced and tutorials everywhere.

Played and finished Assassin's Creed III: Liberation HD and while there were some things I enjoyed about the game, playing it after Black Flag wasn't a good or smart idea. Nevertheless, it's a 7/10 in my opinion.

Never played the original Assassin's Creed, Revelations or Brotherhood.

Started playing Assassin's Creed II this past July since the majority of fans say it's the best one. I'm currently on sequence VI but haven't played it since late July.

Unity seems to follow AC II in regards to how it's setup. Personally, while I think that Unity will be the first true "next gen" game, Rogue will be the better overall game simply because the atmosphere, immersion seems to be a lot better. And yes, im a HUGE fan of the naval battles so yes, I favor Rogue over Unity.

But it's not just that though, there's a few things that I have seen in Unity that I already hate. First is the Last Known Position. I'm not playing Splinter Cell here and I hated it in that game too. Really hoping that there's an on/off option for a lot of the features they put in Unity but im seriously doubting that there will be.

Second is that in the gameplay video I watched from Gamescom, the mission starts out with you "following/tailing" someone.

I would have rated Black Flag a 9.5/10 but the constant and consistent amount of "following", "tailing" and especially "eavesdropping" missions forced me to lower the score.

I think that "eavesdropping" missions should be eliminated completely with the "following" aspects and segments used only to advance the story as I prefer that over cut scenes. I can deal with "tailing" missions as long as they're kept to a minimum (out of all the story missions, no more than 10% in my opinion).

Unity is supposed to fine tune, adjust and fix the problems that the series is known for. Personally, im taking a wait and see approach to that as I obviously have to play the game first.

In the end, for the rest of 2014, Rogue is first on my most wanted list and Unity is fourth. I think that Unity will be a positive step forward in the series for next-gen but overall, I think that Rogue will be the better game.

Anyway, I recommend playing Black Flag (and Rogue) with the previous games entirely up to the player.Comment

 Re: Assasins Creed Unity

Everyone is always so down on ACIII, but I think it's a great game with a lot more interesting things to do than the previous games (I recently picked it up for $10 and am on Sequence VII). And if you quit on sequence IV, you didn't even really play the game.

The first two I can never get through because the towns are so blah.

IV is by far the best. Followed by III. Then the Altair and Ezio games are below them for me. I'm sure I'll get killed for that opinion, but whatever.

I'm much more excited for Rogue over Unity, but I'm sure I'll get Unity sometime down the road.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 09-22-2014, 11:53 AM.Comment

 Re: Assasins Creed Unity

I enjoyed the gameplay in III the most with IV bringing in more naval and stealth combat to bring it to a close second. Plus, I loved the wilderness settings in III since its pretty much my neck of the woods in a way.Everyone is always so down on ACIII, but I think it's a great game with a lot more interesting things to do than the previous games (I recently picked it up for $10 and am on Sequence VII). As far as character and story goes (well until the "twist" at the end) II is my definite favorite. Everything just gelled together exceptionally well and bled into the gameplay to really keep me moving through the game and doing all the side activities.

I loved AC3, so I'm with you. The American Revolution is also my favorite time period in real life, so this game was a must-have for me. I have to admit, tho, I liked Haytham a lot more than I did Connor.Everyone is always so down on ACIII, but I think it's a great game with a lot more interesting things to do than the previous games (I recently picked it up for $10 and am on Sequence VII). Re: Assasins Creed Unity

Paris + French Revolution should be a lot of fun, especially if it extends into Napoleon.

It also depends on the character. I liked Ezio, Edward and Haytham, disliked Connor and Altair. Arno and Shay will probably be a big factor whether I buy the games or not, but on paper Unity has the better location.Comment

 Re: Assasins Creed Unity

In a shameful act, Ubisoft has admittedly put the PS4 version at 900p/30fps to match the Xbone to "avoid debates". Naturally, this has had a huge backlash against them on Twitter. I guess I'm more surprised that they admitted it than anything else.

What's funny is it's actually sparked more talk than if they would have just launched it at 1080p for ps4 and 900p xbox one.In a shameful act, Ubisoft has admittedly put the PS4 version at 900p/30fps to match the Xbone to "avoid debates". Pretty sure there's some money being thrown from somewhere that helped influence their decision.Comment

I love Ubisoft but this decision was just a dumb one. However, if Microsoft paid Ubisoft to do this and then they patch the PS4 version to 1080p, then basically, it's free money for Ubisoft and in the end, every company is the same, it's about money and profits, period.Comment

Ubi, you might have just lost this customer with that decision.

If Microsoft paid for it I'm sure they would be smart enough to have a contract with Ubi saying they can't just patch it back in for PS.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

 Re: Assasins Creed Unity

Ubisoft isn't going to lose me as a customer simply because for me, I enjoy their games. They have given me a lot of excellent games and my game of the year for four straight years. While I think that all developers should max out each respective console as best they can, im not going to boycott a game or company if they don't. In the end, I don't care about 1080p, 480p, whatever. I just hope that the game is good.Originally posted by MabsterUbi, you might have just lost this customer with that decision.

As for Microsoft being smart, they purchase developers and then, they rot so who knows? Maybe they forgot to put that little patch detail in the fine print of the contract. LOL.Comment

X1 and Microsoft screwing it up for the rest of us

I'm passing on buying it new like I was planning and will instead pick it up second hand. I won't support the publishers decision on this and will not give them my money. Voting with my dollar Comment
