I have the gamers club...great deal, but why aren't other retailers doing this? How does BB get away with it? Jus wondering, not complaining

I can't speak for other retailers, but my guess would be that the reason Gamestop doesn't do something similar is because their business model is primarily to sell used games since that is their greatest profit margin.

If they discounted new games 20% then they would have to cut the prices of their used games thus cutting into the profit they make on buying used games and reselling them.

Yeah...BB uses it to get you into the stores and theoretically buy everything else there too. Along with hooking you on BB rewards certs and stuff, so you become a loyal buyer.

Amazon does 20% off new games before/at release but not after.

I could see Walmart/Target doing similar, but not sure they'd get the business otherwise that BB does from the GC.

I remember getting NCAA at 7pm, the day before release date at Gamestop, then they stop doin it because other retailers were complaining

What does Best Buy even do with their used games? I can't find a game like Madden used on their website.

Loss-lead. Video games in general to my knowledge aren't high margin, they rather sell at a small loss in the hopes that you purchase something high margin with them, protection plans, etc.

GCU plus the rewards program has gotten me to do most if not all of my electronic shopping there. Also ended up getting their VISA card for the extra rewards points and financing options on large purchases. GCU sucked me right into their ecosystem smh.

I also go to Best Buy first when purchasing any electronics. They have my business as long as GCU is around!

Links to buy new memberships are broken also. Not a good sign unless it's becoming baseline or changing or something (ie a credit card perk)
