The game is fun Dre. Ive cleared the entire lower map. No scavenging back and forth for Stronghold Project parts, I have them all, so once I can build stuff, itll be in 1 shot.
Im dang near Mad Maxed out stat wise. Proceeding with missions now, just super easy for me now. enemies are just overmatched. I want to find Dinki Di so I can rid the area of minefields as that's all I have left to do basically.

Below is a response from someone on neogaf who pretty much sums up Mad Max to perfection -

Man, this game kicks some serious ***.

It's like a bizarre blend of Batman's hand-to-hand combat, RAGE's vehicular combat, Far Cry's scouting, tagging, and camp clearing, Tomb Raider's tools and resourcefulness, Just Cause's massive scale and over-the-top craziness, and Red Faction: Guerrilla's rebel-uprising metagame (and emphasis on collecting scrap metal).
I personally never played Rage or Red Faction but I have seen videos and can agree with what the guy says. To combine elements from those two games and from Batman, Far Cry, Tomb Raider and Just Cause and to get it to where it all fits seamlessly and doesn't screw up the atmosphere or immersion is a huge positive and quite simply, an excellent job done by Avalanche Studios.

Be advised that you need to upgrade EVERY stronghold individually. Upgrading one doesn't carry over. I cleared out Jeet's territory the other day 100%. Just have the death run races and two ramps to perform epic jumps.

I have Max's abilities maxed out except for the ammo belt which im a few more levels away from hitting the Road Warrior ranking. I need 18 more Griffa tokens and all of those abilities via Griffa will be maxed out. Car wise, it's solid but definitely need several more upgrades but majority are tied into the story and lowering the threat level in a respective region.

If it wasn't for the fact that I have to get ready for work in the next 30 minutes, I would be playing right now!!! LOL.

I have ALL THE PARTS for both Strongholds. I cleared the entire map before doing Barrens. Only thing I have left to do is clear all the minefields.

I have 21000+ scrap metal, means I can upgrade whenever I want where it doesn't require a mission complete. Doing it my way, I cleared 31% of the game just off 3 missions. Makes it easier going forward. theres 191 Scavenging locations and I completed 119 of those. not much left for me to do.

                Absolutely LOVING this game!!!
                So much fun!

Some made a comparison to Modor and I think it's very fair in terms of combat and map/mission setup.

I've barely scratched the surface but in the 2 hours I've had, it's been incredibly fun.
Still learning some controls and options, but I think I may have lost my harpoon(?).
Not sure, but during my last play, I tried to take out a sniper nest with the harpoon but it wasn't available as an option.

Two things to check with the harpoon, in the bottom right corner where the car HUD is check to see if you have the shotgun equipped. If so all you have to do whilst in the Magnum Opus is push either left or right (I think) on the Dpad to bring up the harpoon. Also works visa versa to switch back to the shotgun.

Or...go to the garage in the menu and manually check to see if the harpoon has been un equipped by clicking on the harpoon icon and checking it's upgrade status.

                      Thanks!
When I hit the D-pad, I only have the Shotgun as an option.
I must have un-equipped it at some point.
During a scavenging expedition, I used the harpoon to move a gate covering a hole in the ground and I was worried I actually left it in the desert somewhere.
I hit 'O' to unhook the harpoon. I'm paranoid that I actually dropped the harpoon.

EDIT: This game wasn't even on my radar until I started reading this thread.
After watching some vids and reading impressions, I purchased basically sight-unseen.
So glad I did. The last time I did that was for Sleeping Dogs and that is still one of my all time fav's.
I have a feeling that MM is going to be placed in that category as well.

Switching to the alternate control method at the very beginning was big for me. Rolling and dodging with circle instead of r1 is so much better. It also makes it so you aim and shoot with the bumpers instead of aiming with l1 but shooting with r2.

So gents, what happens after you clear areas out? Do enemies randomly respawn in gangs or convoys to chase you or try and take strongholds back or once you're done you're done?

For 23 and others who just started playing the game, here's two tips -

1 - In the settings menu, switch to the alternate controller scheme. Doing this makes R1 shoot (instead of circle) and turns circle into a handbrake.

2 - Also in the settings menu, turn OFF the tutorials as doing so eliminates the big controller icon that pops up throughout the game telling you the button commands.

Doing these two things makes the game even better.
