For 23 and others who just started playing the game, here's two tips -

1 - In the settings menu, switch to the alternate controller scheme. Doing this makes R1 shoot (instead of circle) and turns circle into a handbrake.

2 - Also in the settings menu, turn OFF the tutorials as doing so eliminates the big controller icon that pops up throughout the game telling you the button commands.

Doing these two things makes the game even better.

Ill give it a shot.

Controls struck me in 2 instances

When I was in that first fight against that group of guys and one had a knife.. I had to pause for a minute to figure out how I was going to fight back because of the control scheme

...and when we were leaving that place and you could fire but the mapping of the gun is wierd.

Having a weird glitch where the 2nd convoy doesn't show up in Grit Canyons. I know where the convoy patrols (highlighted blue), they just will not show up. Still gotta bring Dinki Di back to Jeets. I am "Road Warrior" status, and fully maxed out all before the 5th mission. Game is crazy easy, still fun though..

This game is terrific, I am having so much fun playing it. Just started playing a couple days ago and have not been able to put it down. They did a great job with this game. Seeing your character and car transform over time as you upgrade, is awesome. I really like how they did the car upgrades and customizations, makes you want keep playing.

The random situations you find Max in are fun too. Trying to take down a convoy with your car near wrecked and a storm approaching will create some interesting scenarios.

The alternate controls basically just swap the R1/RB and circle/B buttons when on foot and while driving. I think that the circle/B button is better for evading (roll). The alternate controls also adds a handbrake (circle/B button) when driving.

If at any time you want to save your progress, simply go into the pause screen, go to settings and select the button maps setting to switch the controls to default. Game will auto save. Exit out and go back in to change it back to alternate controls. Game will save again.

While im assuming that changing any of the settings will make the game auto save, I just do what I posted above.

Yeah you can manual auto save

Played a bit more and Im loving it

I see the looting, exploring, the combat, the upgrading, the driving... its clicking

Been on a 7 day straight work week and now I'm off for 2 days and fired this up and it's just plain fun. No doubt it's my SLEEPER OF THE YEAR.

Never thought tearing up stuff in the desert could be so much fun. Been doing nothing but clearing out areas of the map. Forgot there was a storyline.

Okay proceeded with the story and the 2nd convoy I spoke about previous post is tied to the story missions. I'm taking there is no limit to your level, as I'm a level 28 Road Warrior. Been doing the races, and pretty much unlocked all the cars(78%) not ArchAngel. About to do the 7th story mission.
There's odd glitches where the road, engine sounds, waypoint tracker will disappear at times. Simple back out to main menu resume should fix. Too bad there's no multiplayer so I can bust some you guys up.

So I stole my first enemy vehicle and according to some other OSers, I can own this vehicle if I take it to my base?
The problem is, Chumbucket's base is toast and I've yet to visit Jeet's stronghold (want to clear our map first).

Will I need to visit Jeet first in order to stockpile enemy vehicles?
I love the idea of using one of them to approach a stronghold undetected.

P.S. Funny moment (which I'm sure many have had already). I'm carrying a gas tank to my car when a twister picks me up. Somehow it lights the gas canister and while I'm being flipped in the air, I'm also torched from the explosion, haha.
Great times. Loving this game!

Yes head to Jeets, since you're just exploring. The more cars you find and collect, you don't have to win them from races.

The best moment of the game for me was I was fighting a roadkill enemy in one of the camps, next to a rack of Thundersticks. I grab one and stuck it into the guys chest the drop kick him back a few feet, and then while he's stumbling, he explodes. That ish right there was the f'n truth.
