      Re: Mad Max

Had my eye on this game. The reviews are all over, but I hardly look at those anymore. Impressions from actual consumers all around seem to be very very positive. With that link Candy, I think I am going to bite. $20 ain't bad at all, and if it is a big of a sleeper it seems like it is, it's a heck of a steal and will give me something else to play when I have downtime.

Well, only an hour into it, but it is so much better than I anticipated. The lighting, the sound, just the pure rpesentation of the game so far has been great. Very cinematic and just done right.

It's a great deal. I picked it up too. It helps that the PC version is solid.

              Re: Mad Max

Played a few more hours. Man, this game is definitely worth it. Nothing feels forced. As repetitive as the tasks can be, they don't get that stale feeling other games give you. A lot of other games make you grind and their tasks get old after the first few times you do them. This game nails it down to where it isn't like that. Scavenging for scrap alone is fun just because of the combat that will come with it. Car to car combat is pretty unique and has enough variance to it all that I can't see it ever getting old. Smashing cars to bits never gets old in GTA, so I doubt it will here haha.

I know I've only got a 3.5 hours under my belt, so it's still a very young experience, but like I said, nothing feels forced at all and the game has been nothing short of great so far. It really nails everything down that it attempts. It is cinematic, the combat both on foot and in the cars is in depth enough that both are as fun the first time as the last time you do them. The graphics are very nice, the lighting is awesome. The sound in the game is incredible. I wasn't even using a headset, just my monitors speakers out of laziness and it still sounded better than most games.

I'm definitely digging this game. I recommend it for anyone into open world games or interested in Mad Max. Especially for the $20 price Candy linked, you can't go wrong with it.

                Re: Mad Max

Guys, I'm going to give you tips to succeed. You can play your own way, but trust me, you will save yourself A LOT of FRUSTRATION if you take heed to my advice:

                1. Save yourself the trouble of driving back and forth. Once you have access from the starting area, DONT DO MISSIONS. Clear out the map before you proceed. You will save yourself a lot of time from finding parts for Stronghold Parts(entire lower map) by clearing areas first. Trust me on this. Look at my lower map, before the 4th mission. When it come time for me to build projects, I can do it all in 1 shot.

                2. Giving water to drifters walking. They reveal Scavenging Locations across the map. Sometimes they reveal "High Value Vehicles." I know of 2 places on the map. Ask and I will reveal where.

                3. Proving Grounds is SUPER HARD. I'm talking facing about 30 guys(groups of 7ish, with armor and weapons) in a small arena area with no access to water. If you are not leveled up like my guy is you WILL NOT SURVIVE. The boss (Gut Noose)while easy at my stat level is no PUSH OVER. He hits you so hard, 3-5 hits and you are DONE.

3a. Lets the weapon carrying guys attack the others in the group if you can bait them. You can then do groups execution fatalities which are badass.. (if you upgraded skills of course)

                4. Use the Drop Kicker for taking down convoys. You'll save yourself a lot of time trying to destroy cars protecting the leader. Not only that, the cars do attack you, so if the convoy gets too far away from you, iirc the cars you destroyed respawn.

4a. Reek Hills (lower left of map) is 4/5 skulls tough. Everything here is armored: camps, conveys, scarecrows, scavenge locals. Drop Kicker is a must!

Anything else I think of I'll post, of if you have questions ask away.

                    It's an open world sandbox.

It's a blend of Shadow of Mordor with a heavy vehicular combat component. It's definitely worth a try in my opinion.

As for what it's about, it's a post apocalyptic world dominated by brutal groups that control water, fuel and bullets. Max is basically a drifter attempting to do what's best for himself but he typically aligns himself as a "good" guy.

True and vice versa but not Mad Max and here's why, while it has a few related elements to the movie franchise, it's pretty much it's own story and characters. That's what separates it from all the others.

Aside from that, it's a blast to play. I just played for two hours simply because I didn't want to wait until Sunday. And I just acquired the Thunderpoon. It's literally a blast!!! More than anything else, Mad Max is simply a lot of fun to play and that in itself makes it worth buying and playing.

If you liked Shadow of Mordor, Arkham or Assassin's Creed (in that order because I'm not a huge AC fan) you'll like Mad Max.

It's not a movie game, as others have said. It's probably a gift and a curse it's released right now. The film helps promote it but makes it seem like it's tied to the game. It's not.
