I don’t like threads that are just love fests. Critical responses are always welcome in my book. There has never been a game where every single person has always loved it so I expect to see negative/critical posts.

This is a linear story based game. My brother prefers more open, sandbox games. This is not that type of game. It’s not a shooter either. It’s a strategic, sword type of combat with some decent RPG elements. Right in my wheelhouse. I think anyone that liked playing a two handed warrior in DAI would love this game.

I don't think its a bad game just that for whatever reason it doesn't keep my interest or peak my interest enough to want to keep playing it. I don't come home from work thinking, "man I can't wait to play GoW!"

I'm sure at some point I'll dive back in and play thru the story as I loved all the previous GoW games, just not sure when.

Oh and don't worry, I didn't like Horizon either.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I think the surroundings in the first couple hours are very different from the content after. While I have been having a great time with the game since the first moments, I would say it really knocked other games out of rotation (except for Super Mega Baseball because that game is amazing too) in chapter 3.

Every night I fire up the game, the first thing I do is press both buttons so I remember which is block and which gets me those special combat moves.

It's infuriating during a big battle because I'm bound to get hit a couple times crossing myself up. It's really a me thing but it just feels like the buttons are in the wrong spots and should be flipped.

You can change block to L2 if that helps.

That small PS4 controller is giving me cramps in my hands with all the dodging and rolling I'm doing.lol
If you have the game on resolution mode the camera feels much better on performance mode. Some other things that helped me was to use r3 to lock on opener opponents, and if enemies aren't in yout field of view ijust use down on d pad ti turn around fast. It feels much better this way.

When I'm looking to play something outside of MLB The Show '18, I'm finding myself playing other games instead of GoW.
I'm certainly not trying to talk you into liking the game, but shortly after you get to the big lake the game opens up a lot.

Yeah the game becomes much less linear when you get to the lake.

Here is a video that shows how to get the forbidden grip of ages, it's a secret pommel for the axe that's pretty good for beginning/middle of the game. I guess the collectors edition comes with a map that shows location of this, but even the regular version of the game has it.

I don't consider it a spoiler, but I'll hide it just in case.

I’ve really enjoyed this game. I like how it’s a linear game with a good story ala Uncharted or TLOU. But if I had one criticism it would be that there are a bit too many puzzles and not quite enough combat. This current system allows the game to have good pacing and stretch out the game but the combat is so fun and yet I feel is spend so much more time wandering or puzzle solving. Minor complaint. I think I am on chapter 13/17.

I'm still really enjoying game, I still haven't beat the last valkyrie.

My only real gripe is that kratos is by far one of the weakest characters in the game. There might only be three types of enemies that are weaker than him.

I finished the main story section of the game last night and have completed about 50% of the optional stuff (rough guestimate). GOW4 is easily the best game I have ever played (Uncharted 4 is my all-time favorite). I say this and I don't even like fighting games or anything open world. But GOW4 is just so well done and amazes you at every turn. Even the credits at the end blew me away.

                      Great job!

Here's a little tip, the talisman that boosts parries and the one that mos boost dodging strikes are very effective when upgraded. Maybe overpowered even.
