I'll keep playing it here and there obviously however, as it's a good game overall.

Interesting. I think I can of agree in a way that it doesn't feel like RDR1 completely, but I think that is due to how R* has progressed with their style. RDR1 still felt like old school GTA's in a sense whereas this game has a much more mature feel to it. I personally enjoy the mature and slow feel to this game. I really love it and hope that it is a sign of what direction the next GTA may take, but I also realize how it may turn some off.

This game still has plenty of humor to it and whatnot, but the game is put together more like a cinematic experience and not like the old Rockstar formula that RDR1 went with. It's like GTA IV was a step towards this style of game, but Rockstar didn't have the tech or resources to achieve exactly what they wanted and then RDR1 went back to their roots in a way if that makes sense. Now Rockstar was given the time and tech to make a game that felt slower and more mature like this and it led to what we're playing now.

I may be all wrong on that, but I think the major difference is that RDR1 was like the old R* and this game is slower and more mature with insane detail and cinematic value and more of what R* wants to go with. The most recent Max Payne set the foundation for a lot of this. GTA V almost feels like an outlier anymore to how R* has been making their games feel.

      Question

When you mess up a random encounter, does it reappear later on sometime?

Once I saved a stranger being robbed, and as he was thanking me, I drew on him by accident sending him running off to the hills. I didn't even shoot him.

Then I can't tell you how many times Ive bumped into someone asking for a assistance with my damn horse promptly ending all those encounters.

I was out hunting last night and got attacked by a bear. It scared the poop out of me. I heard the roars, turned around and he was all over me. I got away somehow (with huge scratches and a scar on my face) and shot him, but decided at that point to scurry back to camp.

Question: I have a huge scar on my face. I saved right after the bear attack so I haven't done much yet, but will the scar go away or will it stay?

Scar will go away, as will any damage to clothing.

Pretty cool to be riding around to a destination and suddenly Javier shows up with a side mission.

I know it's scripted to make sure I'm doing something and explore the world, but still cool to see it happen out of thin air. I didn't ask for that mission and I could have declined but it was an easy one and I got some money out of it.

I ran into some Lemoyne Raiders, last night that were camped out. I snuck up on them and hid behind a wagon. One of them was telling a story about the war. I sat through the entire thing and as soon as he finished, I threw a lit stick of dynamite right in the middle of them. Lol! This game is so awesome!

Co-sign 100%. As I said before, RDR felt like you were in a spaghetti western. It was essentially an homage to spaghetti westerns and Rockstar hit it way out of the park. RDR2 feels like a normal game set in 1899; it's missing the magic of RDR.

In RDR you were the lone gunman out on his own raising hell. Blondie, Josie Wales, etc. From the music to the atmosphere to the missions and landscape: Rockstar nailed what they set out to do. A moment that still sticks with me to this day is the first time I was roaming north of Armadillo on a clear, starry night with the slow whistling music playing and then a thunderstorm rolled in in the distance. That may have been my favorite moment in video game history even though I was doing nothing but sitting on horseback. You felt so immersed in the game yet so alone and isolated.

RDR2 does not capture that feeling in the least though I think that was Rockstar's intention. RDR2's music pales in comparison to RDR1; it's more of a generic action soundtrack than western. It's landscape, while parts of it are beautiful, isn't your typical western setting. We're in swamps and New Orleans and there's no desert in sight. Almost all of RDR was in the desert, which made making it to the Great Plains, Tall Trees, and Blackwater at the end of the game so amazing. It provided an awesome contrast to the first 75% of the game.

RDR2 is an amazing game. The story so far is fantastic and the graphics/immersion/detail is what we expect from Rockstar. But this game will not be as near and dear to my heart as the original. It's missing some of that magic that took it to another level.

I respect anyones opinion on preferring RDR to RDR2

I am thrilled and blown away with RDR2.

It is a different feel and thank goodness. I did not want the same game (movie). I love that I am part of an outlaw gang and not a lone gunman this time around.

Now I am only on Chapter 2 and I am quite sure the story will evolve.

As far as the soundtrack and feel. Yes this feels to me like more of an Epic big budget western vs the spaghetti low budget western feel of RDR.

R* imo completely hit a grand slam with the cinematic scope of RDR2

The game will probably go down as my favorite non sports game ever.

Just an incredible achievement. Especially the AI and NPC aspect.

I will say it again....this will go down as the game of the PS4/One generation hands down.

I’m completely blown away with this game. Anyone that’s critical of this game, while I know it’s not perfect, is just trying to be hip and go against the majority. I think it’s the most polished game I’ve ever played.

There’s so, so many little things that just make it amazing. I’ve seen a lot of the complaints are that there’s animations for everything and it just takes to long to do things like loot homes. For me this argument could not be any more null. I love the fact that you literally open drawers, take things from them, etc. I love skinning the animals, setting up a camp, cooking, all of it.

The other day I shot a turkey and when I got up to it I decided not to take it with me and I just left it there. I rode around the area for a little while longer (looking for rattlesnakes) and came across the dead turkey again probably after an hour (in-game time). There was a fox nibbling away at the turkey I had killed. Things like that are just amazing to me. For someone that loves small details this game nails it in almost every conceivable way.

Negative. It's okay to think a game is amazing, but realize there are things that could have been executed or implemented better. There are just too many annoying instances with animations, glitched missions, etc. for me to consider this game infallible.

I like the game a lot, but it's not something I'm just itching to get back to when I can't play it.

I had to scare a fox off that was trying to take my kill immediately the other day. I don't remember what I shot, but within 10 seconds a fox had ran to its corpse and as I approached it got down in an aggressive stance and was growling at me. I shot once in the air and it jumped back a little and its growl got louder. I shot a second time and it turned and ran away whimpering and I got to my skin.

I want to say it was an elk up in the snowy mountains, but I can't remember 100%. I do wonder what would have happened if I approached without ever firing a shot. I imagine the fox was hungry and would have tried to fight me for that meat.
