Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I'm still all in but undecided as to which version I want to buy. On one hand, an extra $20 for what could be a 30 minute story mission would be a huge waste of $20 but on the other hand, if it's a few hours of excellent high quality content, then it may be worth it. Also, it's Rockstar who releases a game on average of every five years or so and the game will most likely be an easy 9/10 and that extra $20 could end up going to something worse. LOL. It goes both ways and comes down to how hyped you are to play the game. I wish they would release details on how long that mission is as that would make the decision for me.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Nowadays I don't preorder games as I would rather see the reviews and such before buying. I'll wait a little bit before buying this one. I'm sure any extra missions will be available one way or another after the game is released.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Because if there is one thing I have learned about Rockstar, it's that they don't make games that aren't worth buying. Follow that up with the incredibility of RDR (oh man I kind of want to play that again right now haha), and we all know it's going to be an all-timer.
Literally, the only thing that can bog it down is how much they devote to online play. That has now been the Achilles of R*, combined with the fact that Leslie Benz is no longer their leading man. We'll see what the future holds with them (specifically with online play versus single player offerings), but for now I have no trouble holding onto my pre-order.
I'll just keep the normal SP experience, though. I'm sure it'll be just fine. Still waiting on a GTA V single player DLC though, heh.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
As much as I like Rockstar games, I don't assume anymore that a game will be good before it releases (mind you I'll probably pick it up and play the hell out of it). But yeah the other editions of the game don't seem substantial enough to warrant the price tag.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Are you questioning whether this game will be good, or which package to look to go for?

Out of curiosity, what edition did you choose?PS5Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
There's just no way this game isn't a masterpiece. Different strokes for different folks, to each their own and every other cliche you can come up with - this game will still be great.
Do I think it's a bull**** money grab to throw a mission or two or whatever into a "special edition" that costs more money over the base game? Of course! R* isn't excused from being called out for being cash hungry and preying on a consumer base that will pony up.
Will I buy a "special edition" with an extra mission or two? Probably not. Will it ruin the experience of the rest of the game and the ensuing ridiculous amount of hours that I will probably and moreso, likely, sink into RDR2 over the next however many years if I don't? Not a chance.
This is the world we live in, folks. Of course it's greedy, of course it's BS. Call me a fanboy, but some one off mission that I'll miss out on because I buy the base game would never in a million years ruin the experience for me.
But, to each their own.

It’s not going to ruin the campaign for me obviously but I can definitely see this line of thinking by rockstar ruining the online world for me. An online world that I spent 100s or hours in as far as the original red dead goes.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Sounds to me like that's what this extra stuff is; Rockstar is just throwing it in as a pre-order bonus instead of something to buy 3 months later.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Isn't that exactly what DLC is? Extra missions, costumes, weapons, etc. that are only available through purchase, but aren't a necessity.

They could easily just include all the single player content in the 60 dollar version like most games do at launch.Comment

I don’t have the exact numbers of all games ever handy. Maybe “most” is strong. Most games I buy don’t require me to pay extra at launch for the complete single player experience that is available at that time though. Usually it’s just outfits and cosmetics.Last edited by ricky24; 06-10-2018, 11:53 AM.Comment
