FYI- You can do this! Just mark a waypoint on your map so there is a red path, then hop on your horse and hold down the button for cinematic mode. Once in cinematic mode, just hold A, or tap A to make the horse gallop and it will follow the path to your waypoint.

Cinematic mode is BEAUTIFULLY executed!!

Yep, cinematic mode is amazing, and I'm using it on basically every travel session during story mode missions (and sometimes when just fooling around in free roam).

Took me a while to understand the value of conserving my stamina, but now that I'm not dipping into my core quite so much I'm seeing that it really does last a pretty long time. People who like to run around everywhere are probably gonna be frustrated in the beginning, though.

Where is Pearsons' Butcher counter? have this white tail buck that I'm trying to drop off to him but it keeps dropping and warping me to another part of the camp? I go to both tables I see by him and it won't let me drop it

Carry the animal to his table and select donate. The animal carcass will be an option to donate.

Not sure I’m a fan of the upgrade process for some of this stuff. Not only do you have to hunt animals but you have to hunt the perfect animals. I’ve wasted well over 2 hours looking for a perfect elk. That’s just not fun.

I'm not sure what is going on but I got killed on my Dappled Black Thoroughbred and when I spawned back in my horse was completely different.

I'm not sure if I'm a very good father, or a lousy one..... I let my sixth grade daughter stay up til 12:15 am with me last night. That never happens on a school night, but for the epicness that is RDR2 release night, I made an exception.

A while back I read a snippet where someone who got to play the game early said something to the effect of "I went in with my expectations really high and was still blown away". That sums it up pretty well for me also. I also think that IGN's 10/10 "Masterpiece" score is fitting....Masterpiece..... that's what it is. The amount of skill and care that went in to this is truly impressive.

Some memorable RPG's that I really enjoy are games like Skyrim, Zelda: BotW, and Fallout. Those games are AAA quality and great, but I have never felt so immersed in a game as RDR2. This one is squarely and unequivocally on my all time Mt. Rushmore of video games. A bold statement just being a few hours in, but it is what it is, which is glorious.

Ok, enough gushing, here's a couple of memorable little moments I've had this evening:

Made it in to Valentine (which was a sight and feeling to behold unto itself) and was noticed by an guy on horseback that recognized me from Blackwater, called me out and fled. I certainly recognized this as a threat to my cover, as well as my comrades, so I gave chase. When I caught up and he had tumbled off his horse and found himself desperately clinging at the top of a cliff, there was dialogue and I had the decision to either help him or kill him. Well, I'm playing leaning toward the good side, and as I weighed my options and consequences, his fingers gave out and he fell to his death. I didn't make up my mind quick enough and the game did a splendid job of carrying on without me. Bravo.

Another appreciated touch of detail was when I was carrying my first bounty back to a Sheriff, and I had him tied up on the back of the horse I was using. I was about to ford a creek and an info alert popped up and warned that crossing water that is too deep may drown a hogtied passenger. Advice heeded. This bounty only paid for returning him alive, so I avoided the risk and doubled back and took the long way in to town, happy to do so as that was more realistic.

Very excited and encouraged after my first experiences of what is just the tip of this cowboy-simulator iceberg!!

Have played 10 missions so far and have hunted for the camp as well as killed the legendary bear. I’m having trouble in some cases with what is good or bad.

Came across this woman in a cage being transported somewhere and she was yelling for help so I took care of the two guys and let her out. Well apparently that was considered bad and lowered my honor. Also came across a few rival gang members but didn’t know if shooting them would lower my honor even more.

Does anyone have any tips for contributing to the camp? I can’t seem to contribute anything other than the animals I hunted even though I have medical stuff that I don’t need but can’t give it to the camp.

No clue what's going on. I had to go to the stable and rebuy the DLC horse. Very odd.

Martson easy for me I’m still adjusting to Arthur’s voice as it didn’t sound like I thought it would. I did see on Twitter today the guy who did the voice for Arthur.


I ended up stopping as I got to chapter 2 where things open up amazing game so far and glad I made this my first ever non sports game I bought new.

I ran into a bunch of O'Driscolls at a bridge crossing about 5 minutes on foot from Valentine. I managed to take them all out, but my horse got hit in the crossfire and was critically injured. It was at max bonding so I really didn't want to lose it. I knew I needed horse reviver but I didn't have any on me, so I left the horse to make that walk to Valentine to buy it and come back. Fortunately the horse was still alive when I got back and after the medicine and some oats it was good as new.

Perhaps not the most realistic scenario ever - the horse definitely would have been put down immediately in that situation. But hey - it's a video game.

Last time I wander around without horse reviver.

I beat the bear...but bearly...(sorry for that)...spotted the bear from probably 70 yards but couldn't get a clear shot, so I worked my way closer and just as I thought I had a nice shot he sniffed me out and charged! I just began firing from the hip at that point before he knocked me down. Wound up in some brush with him on top attacking me, but the brush was in the way of the camera view so I couldnt even see what was happening. I was just mashing buttons til I broke free and just fired as many shots as I could with deadeye, blindly since the brush was covering the screen...luckily it dropped him as I certainly wouldn't have lasted another second going hand to paw. I got up and finally came into camera view, all bloody and scratched up. It was really intense and almost frightening, but was amazingly cool. I now wear that bear on my head.
