What's a lot of money?

I feel like I've had a lot of money since I started the game. I'm still in chapter 2 and have $700+

I maybe can't buy everything but I can buy pretty much whatever I actually want. I don't really want all the clothes or all the guns so I don't spend my money much.

Still, when I consider my bounties of $50 or whatever, I pay them off without a worry.

Okay, not really a spoiler but I'll hide it anyway. It has to do with a serial investigation. I just "caught onto a reference" in a way that I didn't expect to.

When you find your first clue to a serial killer's murderous wrongdoings, a writing on the rocks nearby say "LOOK ON MY WORKS." Initially I just thought this was a grammatically poor individual's version of "LOOK AT MY WORK." Turns out it could actually be derived by something.

I covered an English class today for a period where they are doing a poetry project, and one group is doing it on a Percy Bysshe Shelley poem called Ozymandias. The poem reads:

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

GCSE analysis: Shelley's poem imagines a meeting between the narrator and a 'traveller' who describes a ruined statue he - or she - saw in the middle of a desert somewhere. The description of the statue is a meditation on the fragility of human power and on the effects of time.

Makes me wonder if the rest of this investigation will somehow allude to Ozymandias or the context of this poem. Suddenly the writing isn't so random. Good news also is that the poem was published in 1818, which took place before this game's time period... so it certainly is possible.

That being said, I haven't stumbled upon the second clue yet or what's going on with all this. That in itself will take some time for me to recognize the next landmark for myself.

Feel like my experience with the game to this point completely different from so many here. The urge to fire up the game just isn't there for me, and when I do play, it feels like a chore. I don't find my time spent to be all that fun, and overall Red Dead 2 has been a massive disappointment.

While the glacial pace of the game isn't for everyone, you can ignore almost all of the smaller aspects of the game and be fine with just playing the story/main missions. Those are pretty darn fun and exciting IMO. The excessive horseback riding is the only thing you can't really escape but fast travel and trains/horse carriages help.

You can ignore cooking/crafting, taking care of the gang, hunting and its long skinning animations, etc.

Finally rented this game. Its great. But to me it's not worth the 60 dollar price tag. If there are any black Friday deals I'll pick it up.

I didn't love it. But I think I didn't give it enough time.

The Revenant


The game is truly a slow burn but get’s deeper and better the longer you play. A true open world game in the last frontier of the Wild West.

Yup, I think renting it would do it a disservice. I always give games the short end of the stick when I do a demo, rental, or beta. I am not giving it its fair shake and due that I would give if I owned it, learning it inside and out as well as taking my sweet time to play it in its full run, also because I want to and not because "I have to before my possession period runs dry."

Like I said, I definitely have 75+ hours of RDR 2 logged so far. There are only 72 hours in a three-day weekend, and no one is awake/playing during that entire time. I'm only on Chapter 2. There is just quite a bit to absorb, and I still experience new things all of the time.

I'm not easy though. I have a small game rotation. "Mostly sports " I couldn't even get into the new Spiderman.

Not saying I didn't enjoy it. But I rarely pay 60 for a game anymore.

In all fairness, I never pay $60 for a game anymore. That GCU is a godsend (sure I pay for it, but the amount of games purchased supersedes that).

One thing I will say there was a moment where I watched a storm roll in and it kind of blew me away. I just couldn't get into the missions. I liked free roaming around more then anything.
