It really doesn't. The entire game is based around "whatever happened in the first game, forget about their personalities. This game is 4 years later and they all changed" but then they dont really show us anything about how or why they changed. They did a HUGE disservice to the original characters, and it seems like this game was focused on trying to make us turn on our loyalties to the new characters for Druckmann's self-admitted agenda.

SpoilerMaking us play half the game as the character that killed the original game's main character is the DUMBEST thing they couldve done and it instantly killed the game. If they wanted us to feel sympathetic towards Abby, Part 2 should've been her life up to that point the same way Part 1 was about Ellie. This game should've then have been Part 3.
Not to mention.......
SpoilerJoel had been on the run, hiding from folks. Laying low for killing the scientists. Then the first group he meets, he tells them his real name, where they live etc. Never would have happened. Cuckman needed to kill Joel and shoe horned this whole plot in to fit a narrative. It is a weak story, with weak writing and even weaker character development. I dont care about any of the "social" issues the game is trying to promote. Its just weak from beginning to end. The only person who gets what they want is the supposed "Boss" enemy. Ellie getting her revenge on the person that killed her father and then like "Nope changed my mind cause feelings?" GAG So much cringe. The writing is this game is criminally bad.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
I'm starting to care less and less as time goes on. I feel I haven't even played as Ellie and I don't care about these people or the super buff chick.
I feel like this game is two completely different games.
SpoilerUp until the point where you learn about Abby's backstory and why she did what she did was brilliant. I was drawn into the game, and for a brief second maybe even felt sorry for Abby, but I did understand why..and it made sense. Good character development and story. From that point on, when you specifically play as Abby, the battle between the SCARS and the WLFS feels like a completely different game. Doesn't relate or tie into the original game, not a good backstory to why i should care. I haven't finished the game yet so this isn't a full review or anything, but how i feel up until now. I just got to the part where Lev (who I thought was a girl the entire time) and Abby escape the island after the battle and get back to the aquarium. I was ready to call this game a masterpiece as well after the first part I mentioned but where I'm at now is really bringing it down IMO.Last edited by franch1se; 06-23-2020, 07:21 PM.Comment

SpoilerYou do see that while in Jackson, Ellie starts to come in to her own and be comfortable with who she is. Joel also seems to have put all that stuff behind him and tried be a good person and father to Ellie
I see what you're saying about it being based around the first game, but it's a story about revenge...that's what they came up with [emoji2377].
SpoilerAbby is a beast lol.

I watched a video today about how Sony/Naughty Dog lied and mislead about certain things in what they showed in trailers and articles/quotes they said. It’s interesting for sure.

That being said, I've avoided all commercials and trailers to not know anything, so I can't possibly be disappointed on that front. Whatever will happen, will happen. Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
The duck and dodge during pre-release isn't new, hell, Metal Gear Solid 2 did it almost two decades ago when you only played as Snake for an hour...yet that was all you saw in every preview. It's just so much more visible and widely spread now compared to screenshots in EGM and a single E3 trailer.

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
This is random, but whenever I play a game that has strategy components, I sometimes sit there impressed with myself if I'm able to achieve the puzzle, thinking I'm one of only a few people that was able to accomplish such a feat... until you realize that anyone who's beat the game or is at the same place you're at has done the same stuff, haha.
Of course, they could be looking at a strategy guide, YouTube video, have hints on, or are playing on an easier difficulty, but I always have to have reality checks with myself when I think I accomplish something seemingly extraordinary in a game that everybody has done what you've done. Then you realize you're just a nerd in your bedroom playing with your thumbs.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
1st game wasn’t that long. On average it took 14 and a half hours to beat according to how long to beat website. Which sounds about right based off how long it took me to beat the game.

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
Okay, really cool thing they added to this game! Not really a spoiler (at least not for story), just an object-based thing that you might want not to know about. All told, I think it's only a bonus-based thing and not required for you to complete the game or anything (I'm still not far at all).
Spoiler
At one point you can literally just sit down and "practice" playing guitar. It's so neat! though you have to go through pages to find certain chords, you'll probably be able to play certain songs just fine, haha. I've spent the last twenty minutes just playing a bunch of actual songs on here.
I haven't checked and won't check till after I finish the game, but there might be popular variants of this on YouTube even. I'm definitely curious about that.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
