And if that ends up being the case, then they'll deserve all the **** the internet heaps upon them at that point.
Ultimately for me, I'm not that concerned with it all. I couldn't care less about micro-transactions because I don't spend money on them. I grind my way like always, I'm used to grinding since JRPGs like Final Fantasy and others were what my introduction to gaming as a kid was, so I've been grinding in games for decades now.
I'm having an absolute blast playing this game, and am still able to more than hold my own in multi-player against others with maxed out star cards. I generally stay an even K/D and am fairly often a positive K/D and usually finish no worse than middle of the table on my team, with multiple top 3 team finishes. So even with the evil micro-transactions and my refusing to take part in them, I am still holding my own and having fun. This game is a lot more fun that I remember the 2015 Battlefront being.
In the end, people may as well accept micro-transactions and loot boxes or plan on skipping more and more future games. It's far too late to reverse the trend. The genie is already out of the bottle, multiple game companies have already seen record profits and their shareholders would have their heads if they undid those profits. Just like with DLC and season passes, despite all the outrage when those first started becoming popular among game companies, this genie will never go back in the bottle.
