    Re: GTA Trilogy

Im playing the PS5 version of GTA3 and I haven't noticed any problems yet. Im almost off the first island.

I was expecting a remaster, not a remake, but this seems to me like a little bit more than a remaster. Although, it is certainly not a remake, maybe somewhere in between.

I never finished it back in the day. Im going to play it all the way through finally.

Why was this rushed? What was keeping them from really doing these 3 games better? Nothing more than trying to be cheap and greedy, imo.

If I didn't have such nostalgia for the trio I likely wouldn't be enjoying it nearly as much.

I could be wrong but I could swear I heard that Grove Street Games has been working on these 3 games for over 2 years.

Just been playing GTA3 looked at the others briefly but no time on those really. Game crashes a lot on my base PS4. Aside from the cut scenes and the character models the game looks miles better than my old PS2 versions.
Probably asking too much but it would have been nice to have more than 8 directional movements for Claude. Jumping can be a chore.

Think the word you are looking for is adaptation. These are adaptations from now defunct game engines to Unreal.

                  Re: GTA Trilogy

Not a terrible response, especially from Rockstar.

I'm around 55ish missions into GTA III, I got to the third island last night. I'm having a blast so far with it. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

I've only ran into one bug so far. The rain effect is awful, though. It's a clear repeat pattern and looks weird when you watch how the drops look on moving cars. And let's not even talk about the wonkiness with the rain effect and bodies of water.

Eh, cant expect much more than that, but to handwave all these issues as just technical problems is a bit of a stretch to put it lightly.

                      Re: GTA Trilogy

I'm certainly having fun with San Andreas. I typically don't play a GTA game long because you can do whatever you want and I normally like the feeling that I'm progressing toward an ending. Never really got that feeling with a GTA game so I don't play them long. We'll see how it goes long term but so far, it's fun and I haven't noticed anything really weird.

Well there was one time I parked to close to a wall and it wouldn't let me entire on the passenger side. I was able to get CJ's body between the wall and just push it out enough to get in. LOL

                        Hi everyone,

We want to provide an update regarding the unexpected technical issues that came to light as part of the launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

Firstly, we want to sincerely apologize to everyone who has encountered issues playing these games.

The Grand Theft Auto series — and the games that make up this iconic trilogy — are as special to us as we know they are to fans around the world. The updated versions of these classic games did not launch in a state that meets our own standards of quality, or the standards our fans have come to expect.

We have ongoing plans to address the technical issues and to improve each game going forward. With each planned update, the games will reach the level of quality that they deserve to be.

A new Title Update is on the way in the coming days for all versions of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition that will address a number of issues. We will update everyone as soon as it is live.

In the meantime, it pains us to mention that we are hearing reports of members of the development teams being harassed on social media. We would kindly ask our community to please maintain a respectful and civil discourse around this release as we work through these issues.

While one of the goals of the Definitive Editions was to allow players to enjoy these games on modern platforms for many years to come, we also understand that some of you would still like to have the previous classic versions available for purchase.

We will be adding the classic PC versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas back to the Rockstar Store shortly as a bundle. Additionally, everyone who has purchased Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for PC from the Rockstar Store through June 30, 2022, will receive these classic versions in their Rockstar Games Launcher library at no additional cost. We will update everyone as soon as these are back in the Rockstar Store.

Once again, we'd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we work through these updates to ensure these games meet everyone's justifiably high standards.

                        Sincerely,
                        Rockstar Games
                        Music to my ears.

I was holding out on GTA: DE until Christmas so ever since release I've been waiting to hear this exact sort of news release. Here's hoping an update or few find their way out there by late December. The fact a number of you guys are already having fun in its current state is a good omen as well.

If I could just go ahead and get my nostalgia trip with some of the release wonkiness cleared up, I'd be good to go.

Edit: Rockstar just released their first patch notes and it's... extensive.

For all the issues I've seen and heard from the outset, I find this response encouraging and hopefully multiple updates are on deck before I land a copy.

Broadly speaking, it does sort of make me wonder what sorts of things were going on behind the scenes. Rushed release to hit a meaningful deadline?

Must have something to do with the physical version, they wanted it available before the holidays.

Yeah that's a real good start. I wasn't very optimistic after they hand waved all of this as 'technical issues' (when it's largely quality, not technical) when referring to all the consternation about the titles.

3 of my buds and I were playing this in my living room Saturday night for 3 hours on the big screen, taking turns each life ****ing with the cops and hookers. It was like we were kids again, and none of us met until we were adults lmao

Pretty cool though to be watching someone play and being able to see the other side of Vice City all lit up and texturized. The world graphics look great to me. Maybe some character models can be touched up but this game can be really pretty
