Honestly the one thing I've learned about weight loss/training is that the quick easy way inevitably never works in the long run. In order to get the results you want and have them LAST, you must commit to a change in lifestyle. That's why I don't believe in diets or any of these pills. When I lost my weight everyone asked what I was on or what I was taking, when they heard I simply exercised more and ate less/better they almost couldn't accept it.

^^ Yeah the key is doing it consistently and for the long term. A lot of people would benefit from a food log but are too lazy to do it. Most of the people I know who are trying to lose weight will start of each day well but then sneak in a few brownies or cookies every single night but act like they didn't eat any junk. Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I really agree with you on "clean eating", since I've stopped eating junk food and processed food, I not only have gotten in better shape, but I feel better and I have not gotten sick in over a year. That might not sound like much, but not having a head cold or anything in a little over a year, its kinda nice. lol.
This is an excellent one. I'll throw this into the ring as well; since I started eating clean (i.e mostly natural and fresh foods), I've also noticed a significant improvement in my skin complexion. It's been a long time since I've had a breakout. Maybe acne really does have something to do with diet. If eating the wrong things can cause so many other physical ailments, why couldn't it affect your skin as well? I hate it when people dimiss diet offhand as a possible cause of acne.New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003

Sorry to rehash these old posts, but I love this thread. So much good info and back-and-forth between posters.

I don't think its food/diet as much as it is the stress of being unhappy with yourself."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Could be one of those vicious cycle scenarios. You feel bad about how you look, so you eat more to try and comfort yourself, which only makes the situation worse. Before you know it, everything has spiraled out of control.New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I agree it's a combination of the two. I know personally I tend to break out alot the next day after I drink. I guess everyone's body has different reactions to what is put into it. For me alcohol flips on the acne switch. For others it might be donuts lol.Go Yankees

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I always thought my acne kryptonite was coffee, but lately I haven't broken out when I drink it. It appears that it was fast food all along. I would always eat it once a week for my cheat meal, then have a zit or two shortly thereafter. Lately, I've substituted Wendy's or Mickey D's with a local Italian restaurant for my cheat meal source (they use no processed or frozen foods) and my skin has been clear ever since.New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Gawd, why can't I be consistent. Starting off so strong last week, now this week - missed my arms workout - settled for abs.
Let's hear some of your guys stories about motivation...how you lacked it - and what you did about it?Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
My problem with diet is self control. It kills me. Portion control and unnecessary snacking is absolutely murdering me right now.
I know I eat too much but I seemingly just can't help it. I'll make dinner (not to boast but I'm a decent cook) and it just looks so great that I just want to eat the whole thing. It's so easy for me to fall into the trap and afterwards I feel like **** for eating it all, yet I do it again next time. That's my biggest hurdle.
I have no problem working out, but it won't do **** unless I eat right. I'm not fat by any means, but I can definitely drop a few lbs (15-20).Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Some of my motivation also comes from the fact that I like to accomplish things that may not seem possible to the average person. How many guys out there would KILL for a six-pack? Well, I want to be one of the small percentage of guys who actually has one. That sense of accomplishment makes you feel like a million bucks. It also makes me sad to see people who are so overweight that they can barely climb a flight of stairs or walk to their car from the office without getting winded. I don't want to be the guy who doesn't have enough energy to play with his kids when I'm 40.New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003
