I'm trying to quit drinking because of this. It's hard though because I love beer. I should say i'm trying to limit drinking because I know at some point I will drink again.

Also, I was going to post this in here because you guys who are posting here are who I want comments from but I decided it needed it's own thread.

I'm having a brain fart and need some help. I'm looking at a weightlifting routine that's written differently than I'm accustomed to - IE: 6x2x300.

It mean that I'm supposed to do two reps of 300, six times, correct?

Assuming 300 is the weight number, I would read that figure as:

          6 sets of 2 reps

          So I would agree.

if so, get a new routine

no point in doing two reps for six sets

Anyone have any good routines for working out without weights? I'm going to be moving back home this week and am looking for a routine that can work out my abs, chest, arms and shoulders while I search for a gym/weight bench at home.

Even if it's just something that can keep me at my current level or a little better for a week or 2.

Pushups are great and don't require any equipment, just yourself and the floor. They work just about your entire upper body.

Do you have a pullup bar? If so, you can do pullups, leg raises, chin-ups, etc.

Yeah I figured I'd have to be doing push ups. Any suggestions on how many sets and reps etc?

As far as a pull up bar, unfortunately no, but I know we have some very very light weights lying around the house. Maybe someone here has some suggestions for those? I guess I have to do some more research around the 'net, or just join a gym ASAP once I get home.

When I'm on vacation or not at home I just do a few sets of regular push-ups, then prop my feet up on a bed or something and do push-ups like that to work the shoulders/upper chest a little more.

You might look up different variations of them as well. Like you can do diamonds or whatever they are called and it works your triceps pretty well, etc.

Ahhh, that's what I was looking for, variations of push ups. I've had a brain fart thinking about these, thanks for clearing it up hahaha.

Yeah pushups are the best bodyweight excersize. I would just do 3-4 sets to failure and try to up the numbers every session if you are able to.

Crunches, dips on a chair, curling and doing front and side extentions with the light weights and squats would work as well.

Thanks for the input guys, this is what I'm thinking of doing. Some crunches, few variations of push ups, and dips should get me through a week or so. Plus like you said I could incorporate some light weights in as well.

Here is a cool video I found with 19 variations of push ups if anyone is interested.

Okay. I found a good workout that works for my schedule. It's similar to TMagic's full body workout I believe:

Note: Do a short warmup set before each exercise with approximately 50% of the weight you will use for the main working set. Do about 4 - 6 reps with this lighter weight, just enough to get warmed up.

                            Squats 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Leg Extensions 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Leg Curls 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Dumbbell Pullovers 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Barbell Overhead Shoulder Press 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Seated Rows 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Bench Press 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Barbell Bicep Curls 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Tricep Extensions 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Weighted Pullups 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Weighted Dips 1 X 8 - 10 reps
                            Standing Calf Raises 1 X 8 - 12 reps
                            Abs - 1 X 10 - 15 reps

I was wondering if it would be better to add some variations? For example, it I go MWF, would it be better to do bench press MF and then something else W on my chest?

Also, how much would it affect my gains if I skipped Squats? I know they're a great workout, but honestly, I don't know the exact form and don't want to kill myself.

I've done so many pushups at the academy I'm never doing them again when I get out!

We overtrain on the pushups and it pisses me off!

I usually bring a resistance band and the travel perfect push-up when I'm on vacation. You can get a pretty good workout with just those 2 items. You just have to get creative with your environment.
