Nagasaki's mayor - one man - was killed by a local gangster; part of the organized crime world. In contrast, 32 students were murdered, essentially at random, by a pissed-off loon.

Making any such comparisons between the two cases with relation to lax weapons laws being beneficial is specious at best, and disingenuous at worst.
    Finally some common sense...

There is a horrible HORRIBLE thing that possibly could happen at the funerals for these Hokie brothers and sisters... I don't know if this has been brought up yet...

Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church, a vile cesspool of hate, has declared their intent to protest at the funerals.

      http://www.associatedcontent.com/art..._virginia.html

This is a quote from that article which is claimed to come off of the WBC official website, www.godhatesamerica.com:

WBC will preach at the funerals of the Virginia Tech students killed on campus during a shooting rampage April 16, 2007. You describe this as monumental horror, but you know nothing of horror -- yet. Your bloody tyrant Bush says he is 'horrified' by it all. You know nothing of horror -- yet. Your true horror is coming. "They shall also gird themselves with sackloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads" (Eze. 7:18).

Why did this happen, you ask? It's simple. Your military chose to shoot at the servants of God today, and all they got for their effort was terror. Then, the LORD your God sent a crazed madman to shoot at your children. Was God asleep while this took place? Was He on vacation? Of course not. He willed this to happen to punish you for assailing His servants.
I'm sorry to have to post this for you...

This man... this "church" is so full of hate, intolerance... it doesn't stand for what Christians believe. Sure, I am not officially a Christian, but that doesn't matter right now. To think God "sent a crazed madman to shoot at ... children"?

How insane do you have to be to even think about this... let alone broadcast it over the internet...

These are the same people that have protested Matthew Shepard's funeral, the Columbine convocation, etc.

Wow. Cho was ruled mentally ill by a court and potentially dangerous to himself and others and then let go.
interesting.. why arent gun sellers held liable? are there no restrictions to selling to mentally ill? the owner said that he looked like a clean cut college kid.

the government needs to get involved with the medical field and create some new laws

Great, just great. I was glad that there wasn't any security footage to exploit (unlike Columbine) but now we get this...and of course, the new outlets are all over it like a feeding frenzy. Just leave it off the air FFS...why show that BS? Just for money and ratings? What a joke. What about the victims, the families, and all those who are trying to cope with the tragedy? Talk about a slap in the face.

Oh and now that he referenced Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the get to dig ALL of that up and bring back to the forefront....yet again.

It just sickens me that NBC or any other major media outlet couldn't resist giving that maniac exactly what he wanted.

              Nicely done.

He was 23. That means he was an American. He'd spent most of his life there...in his videos, he has an American accent.

I don't see that South Korea has anything to aplogise for.

I used to date a Chinese girl who came to Australia when she was youung...she had an Australian accent and always got annoyed when people said "you're chinese". She'd reply "Actually, I am an Aussie. Lived here most of my life, pay my taxes here, live here, will die here. Pretty tired of being called Chinese just because of my skin"

Champ, I am replying to people who SPECIFICALLY have replied me and made comments...

That's what a forum is about.

Yeah, these were PEOPLE...and the died because of some nut case who had easy access to guns and enough ammunition to shoot them all mutliple times...100's of rounds...

Ignoring that is INSULTING to those who've died.

You can have your opinion...and as long as everyone agrees with it, they can reply. Good one.

I gotta agree with Court_Vision here. The gun control issue is clearly related to what happened at Virginia Tech. I think it's almost impossible not to talk about it. Plus I've seen mods and admins discussing it in here.

Not a problem bro and don't worry about letting off steam. Given how close you are to this, I'd go down to a local boxing ring if i were you and just spar for an hour...let out all the aggression.

It's horrible what happend. I am not directly effected...I don't live anywhere near where it happened...and I don't have to worry about guns much...

But it still cuts inside to see those people die like that. Just a waste.

I'll stay out of this from now. No hard feelings at all.

I live 10 minutes away from Columbine and did at the time of the shootings there. Believe me, I do understand.
The families and friends directly affected need time to mourn, of course.

But the rest of us... to honor the fallen appropriately, we need to get to work and try to make sure this doesn't happen somewhere else tomorrow.
