    lol

Not washing your hands after taking a piss is not a huge deal IMO, but I think you should always wash your hands after taking a dump. It gets on my nerves when I know someone just got done taking a dump and didnt wash their hands and they go right into the kitchen and dig there hands into a family size bag of potato chips.

In terms of transfer payments from the federal goverment to the provincial government, Quebec gets more than they pay and yet 90% of the separatists believe its the other way around. For years english Canada let the separatists spew lies and garbage and after almost losing Quebec in a referendum marred by voting fraud (by the separatists), Canada finally stood up and said enough. We've changed the laws saying a referendum must be a clear question and represent a large majority, not just 50% + 1 to secede from a country.

Traditionally 30 to 40% of the people in Quebec still want to secede. They see themselves as Quebecers first rather than Canadians unlike every other province. They can be annoying but the issue is rather dead. We still have the federal Bloc Quebecois and the provincial Parti Quebecois parties that are trying to secede but they aren't pushing that right now. For those that are unaware of the troubles in the 1970s with separatists, they should google FLQ and read about how Canada had domestic terrorists in Quebec that killed a high ranking politician as well as bombed things trying to force this issue.
Thanks for taking the time to explain it. I remember it was huge news when I was in HS in Vermont, probably for the fairly obvious reasons and concerns of how it would change the border control and access to Quebec. It was interesting to watch that night, IIRC the initial polls heavily favored one side and then the other side slowly crept back, I think initially the vote to secede was ahead and as the night went on the vote to remain part of Canada came back and won. That thing was close though, like 50.something to 49.something, right?

You are exactly right. The vote was in favour of leaving Canada and slowly started to turn. At the end it was less than 1% for staying iirc. However, there was shown to be voter fraud by the separatists that made it closer than what it was. I was practice teaching at the time and my grade 8 students didn't even have a clue as to what was going on. I think most people thought it would never pass and it was a real shock with how close it was.

Until today I had never heard of the voter fraud on the part of the Separatists, doesn't seem surprising though. Now to get back on topic, Quebec drives really, really grind my gears. There are bad drivers, then there are drivers from Quebec. It isn't as bad in MA as it was VT by any means, but I still cringe when I see that white and blue plate.

That being said, if the roads were as bad here as they are in Quebec, I could see us being just as bad. I was always shocked by how bad the roads were aroud Montreal, which is what, Canada's biggest or second biggest city?

I've heard the roads are bad there too along with the crazy drivers. Montreal is the 2nd biggest metropolitan area to Toronto.

Yeah there are huge grooves in the road from all of the 18 wheelers and the infrastructure is just god awful to get into Montreal. Traffic gets insane, mainly because the roads are just not equipped to handle the thousands of cars that use it. I must also say the Pont De Champlain has always scared me to death, and seeing how bad the roads are I can't imagine they're too big on bridge maintenance either. I really think it's a matter of time before there is a disaster on par with Minneapolis, if not worse.

Bad drivers grind my gears. I'm sure others have posted the same things but I can't read 9 pages of posts.

No courtesy wave when I let people out.

People who park in handicapped spaces and are walking normally into the store.

People who park in Mother & Child spaces and no kid with them.

People who drive in the fast lane and go below the speed limit.

People who stay in my blindspot.

And my absolute worst. This happens alot, i see a car looking to come out onto the main road. I slow down assuming that he will come out. He sees me and stays put. So I excellerate again but at the last minute the guy decides to come out anyway forcing me to brake. Then he drives slow as molasses. He speed to high hell to get out onto the road and then coasts the rest of the way.

Unless you're whizzing all over your hands, what about touching your member for a few seconds makes you think your hands are in dire need of washing? In fact, you made my next point for me: the door itself has as many germs on it as anything in the bathroom; and it's not just bathroom doors - it's doors in general. Moreover, things like car keys, cell phones, shopping cart handles, your car's steering wheel, table tops - this list goes on and on - are all things with a higher germ concentration than your average bathroom, let alone your junk. Yet there's no custom for washing your hands after touching those items.

Honestly, how filthy does your wang have to be so that you're ready to compare touching it with touching something that really makes you wanna wash your hands? When I take a leak, I'm touching my dong with two, maybe three fingertips. OMG I HAD BETTER WASH! Please. If anything, I should be washing my dong because my hands just touched it!

One might make the case that using the bathroom is a good excuse for washing your hands, as it is indeed a good idea to wash your hands regularly, but this notion of washing your hands because you just used the bathroom is an unfounded, unjustified and antiquated custom that, I believe, is most likely rooted in the anti-sex, anti-body tradition that says 'sex is dirty, your genitals are dirty, wash yourself!' Nonsense.
Heh, which reminds me of something that happened last year at the OSU/_ichigan game. I'm standing in line to use the restroom before the game with a bunch of Wolverines fans. A Columbus police officer walks over and asks the Wolverines fans why they are in line? They are like...well what do you mean? So he says "Well I thought that up in _ichigan you people all just used the state as a toilet"

LOL, I know it wasn't that funny of a joke but I did think the fact that the police officer was picking on the Wolverines fans was funny. They just kinda chuckled. What coudl they do?

As for your original point about washing your hands after you go to the bathroom, it is most certainly far more hygenic to wash than not to wash. It's not so much your "junk" as it is the urine and the things you are touching, such as the knob of the flusher. Sure you may know your junk is clean if you shower each day (I do) but you can't know someone else's hasn't washed in a month. You also can't know they do not have some sort of cold or sickness that you are going to touch your eyes or mouth with later and get sick from it.

Go ahead and accuse me of putting myself on a pedestal because of my habits but the truth is they work for me. I haven't been sick once this year and rarely ever get sick at all where others around me who aren't quite so careful get sick far more frequently. Also, I don't know how many more scientific studies have to be released about hygiene and washing your hands that prove you are better off health wise to do so but then you Wolverines fans aren't known as the most hygenic of creatures in the first place (oh yes I went there as Stewie from Family Guy would say) so it's just in your nature.

Just because someone is walking normal doesnt mean they dont deserve the handicapped spot. Plenty of people have bad heart problems or breathing problems where they shoudnt walk long distances.

Yeah in fact someone just wrote a letter to a local newspaper about the fact that they have severe breathing problems and also something with the circulation in their legs and she got cold, rude stares and comments from parking all the time in the handicapped.

But then my grandpa has a handicap slip that my mom borrows to park in handicapped spaces and the only thing wrong with my mom is she is too lazy to walk much. So it does cut both ways. But you have to assume the person is not guilty, after all that's only right.

I should have been more specific, I'm sorry. I meant people who park there but do not have a sign up on the rearview mirror or on the license plate.

That would be the simplest way.

Let's be honest, there are people out there with handicap plates who really don't need them, but most people do.

I'll admit I once used my mother's handicap plate in HS when I was late to a track meet. It was on a college campus with 20 handicap spots, none of which were being used. That made me feel a little better about the decision, and when I came back to my car and the other 19 were still available, I felt even less bad.
