Don't get me wrong, everyone should be courteous. But I don't think it's a big deal for tenants to have some people over up until reasonable times on reasonable days a reasonable amount of times a month.

And definitely don't immediately call the police. Let your neighbors know, hey can y'all chill out a little? A lot of people will get the point, and lower the volume.

Now if they're being blatantly disrespectful, do what you gotta. Be don't be an ******* back when they're not trying to be one to you in the first place.
See that's the thing though, it never is just every once and awhile. Especially here. It's a 2-3 time a week deal and being told to quiet down just isn't enough because they are entitled rich kids that think because their parents pay the rent and not them, that they can do as they please. The neighbors on one side of me have had people over, and I've barely heard a thing out of them once. It's because they know how to control the volume of their music and voice. It's a nice talent to have. Guess many aren't born with it.

Last time I had a loud neighbor, the property manager said the kid got smart with her despite complaints from 3 of his neighbors, and he tried to deny he ever had music loud/had a party. She had to call his parents because they guaranteed his lease and the lease says she can evict you with enough cause, which multiple complaints from multiple neighbors is all it takes. They never do it, though, but it gets the point across. I only heard him loud one time after that.

We're adults here; you shouldn't have to have your parents tell you to STFU when you're 20 somethin' years old.

When I lived in Akron, I had a loud *** neighbor upstairs. He was some 35 year old loser. For most of the time I lived there he worked 3-11 so I never really heard a thing. He got fired and I guess he figured that since he was home alone most of the day, he could just start being loud whenever he wanted. He must have known the landlord some how because she let him get away with everything. She always said he was the sweetest guy, but nearly every night for the last 6 months I was there, he'd have his stereo and TV up from about 7 pm to 2 am. I could hear what he was watching in his living room through the floor in my bedroom. They were on the opposite side of the building. At least in summer I could run the A/C and a fan and use earplugs to mute it, but couldn't do that in winter. I should have just called the cops on him, but cops in Akron had more important things to deal with. Where I live now, they only ever have to deal with college kids.

When I lived in Alaska I lived in an apartment my last year there. The last 3 months before I moved this lady that smoked moved in under me. The apartments let them smoke in the apartment and she smoked so much that my apartment smelled like smoke. Alaska didn't have a clean air law so there wasn't much I could do. It sucked and I hated life. I was so glad to move from there. Nothing is worse then breathing in second hand smoke in your own home.

My friend had the same problem. His apartment smelled like a grow house was on fire.

I hate parents that think their little baby can do no wrong. I was at the park shooting hoops and left my water near the bench in the court. Some kid (about 10 years old comes into the court and sits on the bench. A few minutes later I turn around and my water is spilled and my bottle is pretty much empty so I yell at the kid across the court "yo kid pick that up, what's wrong with you?"

Well, here comes mama bear to protect her child, cursing at me like "don't you ****ing dare yell at my kid, I'll call the cops on you" so I told her to do it. The cops show up, I tell them what happen, and they just started laughing. The lady couldn't understand why they didn't cuff me right on the spot. That poor kid doesn't stand a chance.

Why would you yell at a 10 year old kid for spilling water? That's quite the overreaction. And I would probably react like that parent myself if I saw you act like that (edit: short of threatening to call the cops lol, that's ridiculous).

Sure, it's careless, but not something to yell at a child for (or anyone for that matter).

It wasn't an angry yell, it was an across the court yell.
                I wouldn't yell angrily at a kid

                  That's semantics.

I'm not excusing her actions but it's a kid, what is yelling at the kid from across a basketball court going to accomplish?

Good point, that was my bad.

The general premise of hating parents who believe their kid can do no wrong still stands though lol

Ha, it's not your bad, having my water spilled would easily be a gear grinder which is what this thread is for lol.

My only point was that parents' defense mode for their children when they are yelled at (regardless of being innocent or malicious) is always going to immediately set in.

I learned that lesson years ago when I was an AD and an aquatics director at an inner city youth center, I get the annoyance, I just learned what type of a reaction to expect.

Ryan Dempster was suspended 5 games for throwing at A-Roid, even when every fan and every player except a few Yankees wanted him to get drilled/hurt. He's a hero, but they still suspend him. As a Sox fan, that's annoying.
