Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
There's still a good chunk of people who use AOL. Once I heard that, anything was possible.
Another brain blower: some very important part of the Department of Defense, I believe in some area of nuclear, just switched over from floppy disks. That was frightening to read.
Why fix what's not broken? It's expensive to upgrade.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
The neighborhood kids that feel the need to bounce a basketball well into the night. They were out until at least 9:30 last night and are still going tonight. Pretty sure when I was in school, I had to be home when it got dark. It's pitch black. How the hell are you playing basketball? It's one of the reasons I look forward to winter. It's peaceful here then.
And the adults can be just as bad. Was woken up at 12:30 the other night by the neighbor's bass. Fortunately, it's a rare occurrence, but I don't really want to deal with it and the last time I attempted to let them know, they couldn't hear the doorbell over it so it didn't matter.
Do people have no awareness of the noise they make?Comment

What's wrong with playing basketball at 930 at night? People complain kids play outside. People complain kids play inside.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
It's because they don't play at their house where it would be less of a problem. It's in the street next to my driveway. They even have a driveway up along the side of the house that's flat and perfect for it because there would be a barrier between the noise and me then. It's fine when kids play, but seriously, it's dark. We don't have much in the way of street lights. You could barely see your hand in front of your face so you aren't really playing "basketball" any more by then.
And I'd prefer 7 AM. I wake up at 4 for work. I'm up any way on a Saturday. I'm more than likely trying to sleep at 9:30/10:00.
Another gear grinder from my neighborhood. Not the bass neighbor, but the guy next to me has a corner lot. He put in a fence before I moved here for his dogs. But there is a corner of it he lost because of utility boxes. So he puts in a gate. The problem? Instead of putting the gate on the outer corner next to the sidewalk, he put it in so that you have to walk through my yard to use it. I'm going to put up a fence along side it some day lol. But seriously, I'm going to have to put out "stay off lawn" signs and caution tape across the gate now when I seed here in a few weeks because there's always an army of kids that trek across the yard to use the gate.Last edited by Redacted01; 09-20-2016, 06:05 AM.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Why is the alternative to wait until it's broken? Also a quick Google search says they spend 60 billion a year keeping this stuff running, three times more than it would cost if they upgraded it to a modern system. There's a million reasons to fix stuff that isn't broken, that phrase is terrible.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
