When I was little we had a Tandy without a GUI desktop so you had to enter commands in DOS to do anything. My dad helped me memorize the commands to get into XTree and open this golf and Jeopardy game we had. 6 year-olds entering line commands, lol.
Well speaking of which, like most shows, when asked to zoom/enhance (or whatever they said), it's a bunch of keyboard typing. Never a mouse, never a kernel... just a video file of some sort that gets to do things based on whatever is typed, haha.

But yes, I distinctly remember in my head to get to some of my computer games/programs that I had to say out loud "C, shift, colon." Then I guess I went through certain directories in that way to get to them through DOS. Man, I was a four-year-old whiz!

Loud keystrokes are more scientific and computer-y than a mouse click.

I don't disagree, I'm just talking about its effectiveness. What the hell did they type to get it to bring up the green box and zoom at that right place, like what did they type? Haha that's what I mean.

Watching Along Came a Spider right now. Total "zoom, enhance" moments happening all over one particular scene. It's really cringey to watch.

"FREE _____ with the purchase of a drink and/or bag of chips"

Seems to be the standard now at places.

Today's national donut day. They're celebrating by giving out free donuts.....with the purchase of a drink. Well, people dont want the drink, and the drink costs more than the donut, so that's pointless.

Same with these "buy 1 get 1 free" deals.

Places near me offer that, saying "support local businesses", but then in order to buy 1 and get 1 free, you need to also buy the combo order which contains things you dont want anyways, so buying 2 of that item flat out is cheaper than buy 1 get 1 free.

Some times it is worth it, depending on how it's done.

One place I go to did have a buy 1 get 1 free on UberEats and it was just that, buy 1 get 1 free.

However, ever since that 1 week that they had the special, it's been changed to "buy 1 combo, get 1 free". The combo of course is something like a burrito which is usually $9 on UE, now its $10 combined with a $3.50 bag of chips, totaling $13.50.

If you just order 2 burritos through the store directly, its $14 with no chips.

Sure, 50 cents less and you get 2 free bags of chips, but B1G1 with fine print like that isn't special.

You understand that specials are meant to gain customers they wouldn't normally get right?

I hate when I buy something on sale, only because it was on sale, then the thing doesn't ring up for the sale price. I'm only saving 40 cents, but I'm also only buying it because it was on sale, am I supposed to say something? Will the cashier judge me for wanting my 40 cents? Will this cause a huge issue? Will he/she need to walk away and check with a manager? Will people behind me snicker and complain about the broke stickler ahead of them that holds up the line just to save 40 cents?
