The snow has started here. I was out doing some errands and while it isn't heavy it's blowing all over the place. I swear, I had a hard time walking from the car to the store. I'm sure it's going to get worse tonight.

Re: Snow is here!
Sleet and snow all night, but college is still in session.
It's absolute garbage that I have to drive thirty minutes both ways, all the while trying not to wreck my car on the icy roads. In the two years I've gone to this college, they've cancelled school twice; once last year, and once this year.
Hell, I'd be happy if they just cancelled classes until 10am. Let the ice start to melt, and then I'll come up. Instead, I have a 5-week class that I can't miss, so I have to drive up there at 8:20am.
Death or injury is a likely scenario for me today.Comment

Re: Snow is here!
Big mess again this morning. I was driving through my neighborhood and this guy in a big truck was coming barreling down the hill on my left. I slowed down thinking "There's no way he'll be able to stop at the stop sign". Sure enough, he tried to slow down, started a tailspin, went through the road and spun out on the sidewalk across the intersection. I slowly went past him as he tried to get his truck back onto the road. I don't know why he was going so fast as the roads were covered.
Here's another pet peeve of mine. Yesterday and today I barely saw any snow plows or salt trucks on the roads where I live. Yet a few months ago when we had light flurries, salt trucks were all over the place (at best, 1/4 of an inch laid that day). It's not like the storms yesterday and today were unexpected either. I understand not plowing/salting the local neighborhood roads until the main highways are done, but main highways weren't touched either.Comment

Be glad that he even called. When I was in college and professors were going to cancel class, you found out by going to class and finding a note on the door stating it was canceled. They didn't even post it on the web/intranet because broadband connections weren't available (I was on 56K dial-up!).
