Most the cops my dad has ran into(I just turned 16 so I haven't done anything bad on the road yet) have been pretty cool. We got caught going 110 in an 80 and my dad is close friends with a cop, gave the patrol officer his friends business card and we got off with a warning.

But this whole not telling on other cops thing is pretty ridiculous. What should happen, is that a FREAKIN' POLICE OFFICER SHOULDN'T BE GOING OVER THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE FIRST PLACE. And if another police officer catches him, than he should be harder on him because as an authority figure, he should know and abide by the standard."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

You see, I agree...some of the cops I've encoutered have been douches, but most have been MAD cool.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
I don't care what it is we have police in here openly admitting to letting others break the law and they don't care. That's a problem. If this was limited to just speeding tickets then it wouldn't be that big of a deal but the police have shown that when something happens they do whatever they can to protect other police.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
All this over speeding tickets? I've been pulled over and gotten off with just a warning for going 15 over. I would certainly expect that police officers would get off as well on pretty much anything under 20 mph over unless it was a particularly dangerous situation.Comment

Man you're living in a fantasy world. Police let people off speeding tickets ALL the time. It's clear this thread was just started so you could talk about whatever your agenda is.Comment

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
The link that I posted had complaints by officers who were going 20 mph. Some were even stopped multiple times but the same officers but expected nothing to do happen.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Nope the thread was created because it's hilarious seeing police complain about getting stopped.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

you probably didn't even read the page. If you did you will see it says "This is a site for officers getting traffic tickets that ANY normal civilian could get a warning on, verbal or written."My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
Officer Harris took approximately ten minutes so I figured he was going show some professional courtesy and only make me “wait” awhile longer instead of stroking me a ticket. That wasn’t the case. Officer Harris ticketed me even after I identified myself as a law enforcement officer. I am currently working under cover in a Federal position and informed him that I too had previously been a police officer in both Houston and Dallas, Texas and had pulled over multitudes of Houston Police officers while working radar and had always shown them professional courtesy and sent them on their way.
Officer Harris showed indifference and informed me that he wouldn’t care if someone was going on a raid that they still had to obey the law. “Oh, by the way, I’m cutting you some slack since I only wrote you for 70 in a 60. At no time was I rude or obnoxious to this man. This officer is a disgrace to the uniform if he can not show some courtesy. It’s written into Texas state law that he has “discretion”. The sad part of this story is that Officer Harris decided to “catch up” to me down the road after he had written me and then go up to approximately 80mph in a 60mph zone just to exit and turn around. Officer Harris you have proved your point. “You’re a jerk.”I am a Cook County Sheriff Police Officer. I tell my son to be respectful of the police and not to be one of those police brats. He was coming home from a softball game late at night. He was driving down a isolated country road. He was pulled over for speeding. Admitted to me he was going about 14 miles over the limit. When the officer finished threatening to have him arrested for reckless driving, my son asked the officer for professional courtesy because I was a police officer. The officer then stated to my son, "That means nothing to me." This officer's name is Ofc. Young, #441, of the University Park, IL, police department. The ticket is # 210XXX21.Last edited by jmood88; 01-28-2008, 10:44 PM.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. It's not being updated anymore, the creators stopped doing anything with the site. They were getting attacked or something by another site.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
The problem with this whole thread is that it is based on a website of a vocal minority that are giving those in law enforcement a bad name.
Most officers I know are not going to gripe if they get a ticket, but does professional courtesy exist??? You bet.
Just as it does in every single profession on this planet, from Lawyers, Doctors, Judges, Concert Promoters, Athletes, Ministers etc.
You quote several incidents of poliec brutality and use that to indict an entrie profession.
Do you have any idea of how many contacts that the police in the United States have with the citizenry, and how few actually result in a use of force, much less to an execssive level??
It's miniscule. And to imply that officers as a whole cannot be trusted or are dishonest is simply not logical.
As far as the question of cops not writing other cops tickets, its fairly simple? Do officers cite civilians 100% of the time, while blindly allowing other officers to violate traffic laws with impunity? No. They cut civilians breaks, just as they do other officers.
And in all honesty, this is really revolving around the most minor of traffic infractions, speeding.
Not criminal conduct.Comment
