Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law

I could care less about other people getting tickets but what I do have is a question about is this.

I'm at the gym yesterday and I know/recognize alot of the people there. There are 2 cops that always work out around the same time as me. Yesterday, I go into the locker room to change and notice something very strange and distrubing. I hear chatter coming from the bathroom and I notice that there is an extra set of legs in the handicapped stall. I change into my work clothes and low & behold the 2 cops I mentioned before come out of it. I know they werent doing anything sexual but one cop had a little toiletry bag with them. So I put 2 & 2 together and assumed that they were shooting each other up with roids.

My question to the cops who come on here. How prevalent is roids use in the force?

I think the difference hear is that cops, soldiers, firefighters, etc put their lives at risk in their jobs, and I think cops show respect to that by giving warnings. Honestly I don't have a problem with cops letting minor offenses slide like speeding. I think we've all seen movies like Copland, and maybe that makes us think serious cover-ups happen in real life. Maybe they do, but we are talking about minor things hear and I don't have a problem with cops letting those that they respect slide on these issues. A previous poster nailed it, if I was a cop and I pulled a car over and my mom was in it, I'd let her go too. You make exceptions for family when it comes to the minor things, and if cops see other people that put their life at risk everyday for a job to help strangers as family, then I've got no problem letting them give breaks.

But when you are speeding aren't you putting others at risk?

yeah, but that is why they pull them over and give them a warning to slow down.

Not always. If somebody is going with the flow of traffic at 80mph on a highway with a speed limit of 65, are they putting people at more risk than they would if they were going the speed limit?

So why not give everyone a warning then and not just because you pulled out your ID and they saw that you're military or a police officer etc...

Then I guess everyone gets a ticket. You want one every time you speed. Everyone who speeds doesn't get a ticket. We let go far more speeders than we write. That's a fact. Cops have to give the disposition after a traffic stop. What did I hear most of the time?

"I'll be 10-8 (back in service), with a verbal warning". So I'm not getting this unfair thing.

So Jim, if someone does happened to get pulled over, what's the best advice for getting a warning instead of a ticket?

Because tickets DO affect traffic saftey. And there ARE people who are habitual traffic violators.

If I see someone blatantly drive through a red light, it's ticket time. If they roll through a stop sign (and almost every one does), probably a verbal warning.

Well, the odds are (unfortunately this doesn't hold true with the highway patrol) you are going to get a verbal warning anyway. Be completely polite, no excuses. But you know it also depends. Doing 45 in a 25 when the streets are busy, compared to 45 at 2 a.m. in the morning when the streets are empty, big difference. There are some cops that are specifically ordered to be "radar cops" during their shift and there job IS to write tickets.

But again, no cop wants to spend his days off in traffic court. One of the reasons for all the verbal warnings.

Cops aside. Are gung-ho weightlifters more prone to use steroids?

I never knew of anyone who used them, but who would know that unless they talk about it.

Use of force. Forget what you see on t.v. I can't tell you how difficult it is for one man to take down another by himself. That can just turn into a UFC thing and last for days, lol.

Usually the bad guys are pumped up with adrenaline. Cops aren't. Believe it or not most of us are not "angry", "mad", "out of control" when trying to take down a pumped up criminal, who, let's say just beat up his wife. We need to use the force necessary to take him into custody and that does mean some "pain compliance", and shouting our arses off at them, so be it. If their arm gets tweaked, that gets their attention, but I'm telling you, with the drug use out there the bad guys can be pretty pumped up and you'd better have back up.

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law

I respect cops for doing a tough job, except in times of extreme douchebaggery. I once got a ticket for having the audacity to run a red light when it literally didn't turn green for 10 minutes. It was during AM work traffic, and only one light was stuck, but you could tell when it was supposed to be green in the intersection light cycle. Me and like 3 other cars said f it, and went. All of us got pulled over in what was an obvious trap.

It pissed me off more than any legit ticket ever could. What are cops doing sitting hidden past a "broken" light during work traffic to catch people that get tired of being skipped during the light cycle. Seriously have nothing better to do than rig up a trap?

As for the website, it just gives off a vibe of wanting to be able to live above the laws they should adhere to more than anyone else. I speed like everyone else, but didn't whine about it when I got a ticket for going exactly 80 mph in a 70 mph zone. The ticket was only $10, while the court fees were $200, which had to be paid regardless. Ticket cops are just the pawns in a city's plan to get money. Can't hate all cops for that.

I doubt that was "rigged". Was the cop an arsehole? Yes. His duty was to get out and direct traffic at an obviously malfunctioning traffic light. He has the duty for public safety when something like this happens. If this was rigged and found out about, head would have rolled, I can assure you. This would have been asking for lawsuits.

People are complaining though about a website with a bunch of whiners on it WHO ACTUALLY GOT TICKETS FROM OTHER COPS. So what's the beef? That they're whiners? Let them whine and cry, THEY GOT TICKETS. Think about it, they're whining just like some of the people here who have told about traffic violations they were invovled in and got a ticket from a rotten cop. Isn't that what people want here? Cops getting tickets?

                                Seems they are.
