Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
What I do love is when I'm driving around doing the speed limit and a cop comes flying down the road and rides my *** all the way to my destination. Not only did they break the speed limit but braking another violation by riding up on my ***.
Other then that Police haven't been a problem

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
We don't go lights and sirens to every call as it is a danger to us and depending on the call, it may tip them off that we are coming. We turn the lights and sirens on at intersections so that we can get through safely and many times we get called off shortly after clearing those intersections as enough police are on the scene and do not need any more cars. Unless you have a police radio on and you know our car number, then you may not know the situation.
I have a cop that lives in my subdivision. I've seen him many times flash lights to get through intersections only too see his car parked in his driveway 10mins later.
Not every cop is bad. However the ones that break enforced laws are the ones that make a lot of people mad.
The good ones are over looked. *sighs*BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
I don't mind cops not giving speeding tickets to other cops. I give them a pass to break laws like speeding because overall they do work that keeps me and my family safe.
They have a right to complain just like the people are complaining about cops in this thread. I'm glad they have a voice in a website like that especially for all the **** they go through.
If anything, you see WAY more criminals get off than cops getting a pass, and that is more an injustice than cops not writing up tickets for other cops.Comment

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
Cops are just doing their jobs. I got my first ever speeding ticket a couple months ago, but thats because I was WAYYYYYY over the SL.
I don't see anything wrong with them letting other officers off, it's a freaking speeding ticket. Like someone said, it's their job. I get special perks from my job, discounts and crap, yet not everyone does, is that fair? People just love to bitch about petty things.
Oh and I was going 89 in a 55. Just paid the ticket yesterday, $250 and 5 points.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

It's a perk that comes with their job, don't see what's wrong with it. If you were a cop, I'm sure you would expect the same.Comment

Can you show me anything that states that police are above the law? That isn't a perk.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
Yeah my agenda is that I'm against police officers abusing their power. I don't really care that it's "just a speeding ticket", they should be held to a higher standard just like most people who are in positions of power. That's like a doctor smoking in front of his/her patients, it's not that big of a deal but it takes away from their credibility if they're telling someone to live healthy and it's just a stupid thing to do.Last edited by jmood88; 01-30-2008, 12:14 AM.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
There's nothing wrong with this. In California a code 3 run is lights and sirens. Not every call warrants a code 3 run, but some are very urgent and you want to get there as fast as you can. For example.
A call of a disturbance between a husband and wife at their residence. This type of call can turn violent quickly inside the house. I can tell you that many times I would approach an intersection and put on my lights, hit my siren a couple times, and go through the light only to turn them off once through the intersection. I would get to call as quickly and safely as possible.
Now if the guy did this and wound up at Dunkin' Donuts he's a jerk and if I was his supervisor he would be severely disciplined.
Hope that explains that.Last edited by jim416; 01-30-2008, 01:36 AM.Comment

Re: How dare police officers and their family members follow the law
I'll straight out tell you I will not write another cop or firefighter...never.
You expect me to turn around and stop a guy who has saved my life, and that I trust with my life, and write him or his wife a ticket? It's the same reason I would never write a military solider. Go join the forces, go to Iraq, and get in a few firefights. Then come back home, join the police, and go work patrol 4 days a week in the dark of the night with only your partner to count on. The you'll learn real quick why King Henry V said, "we few, we happy few, we band of brothers." The bond created is a strong one...I would lay down my life for my fellow officers. And you expect me to write one of them? I'm sorry I just can't.
Matt, Understood. However, and I know you will agree, I would not give a bad cop a break. I have chastized bad cops ON DUTY, written them up, requested their dismissal, requested they be release while in training, etc., etc., etc. It's not a free pass mentality.
I personally wish I could explain it more, but I think a person would have to go through all the hell we go through together and see how they would react. Is it right. No. Is it done. Yes. Is it fair, no. But does it happen. Yep.Comment

Speeding tickets.
It's an infraction. The police officer has the power to write a ticket, or not write a ticket. I can tell you right now we let LOTS of people walk with a verbal warning. You think we want to go to court all the time on our days off for a speeding violation? TONS of people get warnings. I would bet it's 5-1 easy that get off without a ticket.Last edited by jim416; 01-30-2008, 01:37 AM.Comment
