Sorry man , but i find absolutely nothing good for me and my family paying 5 freaking dollars a gallon for gas and I think its rather silly that someone would even seriously make the notion.

This has nothing to do with politics, its just life. They're gouging people in the name of their pocketbooks and i dont want to hear that ridiculous excuse about supply and demand.

It's tough, especially with a family. But look at it this way, I'm not even going to get into the politics of it because I don't care about that side of it. One, the higher the prices go, the more urgency we are going to feel as a nation to stop dealing with those oil-controlling regions who have us by our nuts.

Also, living in LA, haven't you noticed less traffic? I certainly have. It's worth it for me to pay 10 bucks more per fill in order to have less cars on the road when I have to go somewhere.

Anytime I find my gas expensive, I just look at UK gas prices. It makes me feel much better.

Americans are spoiled. You have running water, eletricity, public transportation everywhere you go basically, we throw away as much if not more food than we consume, I could go on and on but I think you get my point. Yet we bitch and moan about having the LOWEST gas prices in the world. Yeah the gas companies are ripping you off, but that's the price you pay to live in a capitalists country. Things can't be that bad for you, you afford luxeries like high speed interent and a computer, stop whining, it's just gonna get worse. My advice, learn how to hunt, and survive, you'll thank me after it happens.

LOL@ trying to actually validate the reason for the prices to go up.

Gas actually dropped down about .10 cents here. From around $3.71 to $3.61.

Uh, dude, this is mainly a sports forums. Not all my posts about NCAA football, MLB, etc. are extensions of my political views......

On the subject of gas prices, yes, most of us have political views. But their support for the oil companies based on a free market economy and the invisible hand in this case is too rigid. I mean, they're basically saying they're doing nothing wrong in this situation based completely on their political ideology rather than on what is actually happening. Most republicans and libertarians seem to be pretty pissed at the business practices of the oil companies.

Im just going to chalk that up as you not having to drive on the 405 daily like I do.

Heck nah its not less traffic.

The killer part is, we have our own freaking oil and wont use it like we're going to run out or something. Its amazing how ignorant people in power can be.

Give me a break, just because other people do crooked things to their people doesn't mean I should feel good about getting hosed by greedy execs.

Im not working to fill up Mr Exxon's pocketbooks because he wants to stay in the record books before he dies and leaves the money to some other snob.

As for the rest of us, please keep politics and political affiliations out of this thread. I'd hate to lock itif we cannot keep it on gas and oil and off of something OS doesn't allow here.

I'm not saying that ZB's talk about becoming energy independent are bogus, It's just kind of ironic.
we find investors from all over, including the middle east, but we produce mainly in the United States. We are a smaller oil/gas company.

there is also a Canadian company called CalTex. We are based in Texas.

as far as being energy independent...that is tough when our government goes out of their way to make it difficult to produce here. There is no wonder why big oil gets so much from South America and the Middle East.

Hahaha, nah I don't have to drive on the 405 every day. I'm dreading that possibilty though, man. If my family moves from Sherman Oaks to somewhere else, I'm gonna have to commute to UCLA every day.

btw, did you know that a bunch of Arabs bought the Chrysler building with oil money? Do you want to keep seeing foreigners buying American real estate?

I can tell you that OPEC and everyone else love our government's policies against American oil companies (big or small), and they love the American way of looking at American oil companies as the enemy. We are our own worst enemy.

another btw, did you know that we are 5 percent of the world population, yet we account for around 25 percent of the world's energy usage? (It's amazing that an American energy company just recently passed Coca Cola as the biggest profit maker this year, you would have thought it would have been earlier as much energy as this country uses). We need oil obviously, and we should want American oil companies to supply our energy...otherwise, South America and the Middle East will (very anti-American places obviously).

What about Canada's oil? I read that Canada has the world's second largest oil reserves behind Saudi Arabia.
                              My Specs:

yea they have a lot, but Canada has the same problem as Russia with perma frost. Many of those spots are in northern Canada. It's tougher to get out of the ground.
