Ok, if you want to do it that way. They're actually only paid $2 something an hour with the potential to make more. You are guaranteed $8 an hour. You may know so-and-so making $10 something an hour, and great for them. No one said you had to stay at your $8 an hour job if you could make more.

Just as no one says that they have to stay at a job that is reliant on people tipping them.

That depends on the state and company. Here, almost all servers get at least minimum wage on top of tips. And at McDonald's, you typically don't receive benefits unless you're management. And even then, it's barely.

I don't tip Pizza delivery people more then $2-3 as screw their $3.50 delivery charge.

Restaraunts I always make sure to tip the 15%, more or less depending on the service or if I'm just poor.

Pizza delivery is a little more of a grey area for me. I feel like it's been discussed here before though. With waiters, I assume they're making sub minimum wage so I'd rather play it safe and contribute. If I overdo it, I usually never have a second thought.

With pizza delivery, I still tip like normal (15-20%), but I've had more confusion about it. What is proper and where does the delivery charge go?

Re: GUYS, What is your Perspective on Tipping

Yea, pretty sure there was another thread on pizza delivery and tips.

I give about $3-$3.50 on my order and it is usually in the $20-$30 range. I see no reason to tip more than that personally. I usually get Papa John's for delivery because I can get it 50% off a lot. It is 1.5 miles round trip and the only reason I don't go is because it is downtown and you have to fool with main street and parking. I often feel like I'm overtipping. $2/mile seems like a more than generous tip since all they did was put the pizza in their car and bring it to me. Add in that delivery fee and I'm sure they getting paid decently enough.

I used to work with someone who was a delivery guy and he'd go on about how he'd carry extra sauce and everything with him. Every time I order, you have to pay for it and you put it in the order so I've never had a delivery guy offer me anything additional. At the same time, I don't undertip if it takes them forever because it is usually the store being slow, not their driving.

I feel like 10-15% for a regular order is plenty. Maybe a few extra bucks if they have to haul a half dozen pizzas and drinks up a flight of stairs or something.

Doc, don't you order from UD Main St.? I've never worked there but I've heard their drivers are boss. The drivers for us are all lazy, whining bums. Cool guys but these mofo's don't help out. Those UD drivers straight up run that store. Anyway, I would never work at that store. Main St would drive me crazy.

I never get delivery because the pizza is always better when you pick it up. But I toss a $5 when I do. That's kinda the sweet spot for a driver. It's not an outstanding tip and its not a lowball tip, it's enough to satisfy the guy without feeling like I wasted my money. I just know how it is, and if I got a 5 I'd be happy. These guys get stiffed a lot.

All these pages in and not the first mention of strippers.

                  I'm disappointed.

They're usually pretty good. Once or twice I've had to wait a good 45 minutes on like a Thursday afternoon but I wasn't in any rush. If I lived further out, I'd probably tip $5, but I'm essentially buying them a gallon of gas for a 5-10 minute trip, and since it is just all apartments and houses, would not be surprised if they drop off 2 or 3 at once in a mile or so radius. Easily make $10-$15 and not use more than a fraction of gas. I'm sure there are some cheap students around here, but you probably do pretty well as a delivery guy in a small college town like this.

Yeah I think college campuses do alright. They know what they're getting themselves in to. They get crazy rushes being based on a campus. I'm sure they appreciate non-inebriated customers who tip a bit. Lol

I will say that the rushes for daytime on the weekdays are completely random. It's just one person and one driver running the store until dinner time. You get 3-4 back to back orders and it can take an hour to catch up considering you have to run back and forth for phones with customers who don't know you're in a time crunch, make food, put up labels, cut table and whatever else random **** happens. I'm a boss so I can knock out a full board (10 items) in like 5 minutes uninterrupted but if you get those phone lines lighting up its curtains for your service times. It can get pretty hectic.

Yea, I guess that's true. It's pretty dead here in summer but there is still enough people that I could see how you could get behind quick during the day. I try to cut down on the pizza intake because the department usually gets us pizza once a week, but a couple weeks ago when the Phils won like 4 in a row scoring 5, it was too good to pass up.

That promo kills us. We're up here in north Wilmington, I believe second busiest in the region, and man, it pops off.

Then we're dead when the Phils tank. Lol

It's disheartening to check the numbers, know we got crushed and see half the profit we should have for the rush. I'm like damn, I don't get a 50% raise for half price days. Hahah in a perfect world...

Papa John's themselves must get a huge cut from MLB and or individual teams. Colorado has a 40% off after every win. I think the O's have a score 5 and win deal. Nats might have a 5 runs and win.

I don't know how many people actually know about it. I don't watch many Phillies games given I'm a Blue Jays fan, but I don't remember seeing the ad that much. They stick it on the box, but it's not like it is in big bold letters making it obvious.

I mean it's online only, and they send out emails pretty frequently I think. With smartphones, a good amount of people know. We definitely get a pretty large percentage of orders from the web. It's good and bad. Heh

I think a lot of it has to do with the extra income that team brings in by having their vending stalls in the stadium. Papa Johns can make a lot more by selling 7 dollar slices of pizza to half a stadium full of fans than they can by selling a large pizza for the same price.

That's just a guess but I'm assuming that plays a part in all these sports related giveaways they have.
