GUYS, What is your Perspective on Tipping
So they're making gratuities illegal, I think it's a nationwide thing.
Ugh, poor servers. Now they're gonna get one huge party, and could see something like $20 for it (at least for the ignorant people). That could be your whole shift. I always dreaded big parties, big tip or not. They're usually too in conversation with each other to notice I'm here for your order. God forbid you show them the same respect, though!
Glad I got out of that business. My fiancé is getting into management just in time, too.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: GUYS, What is your Perspective on Tipping
The Internal Revenue Service will soon begin classifying automatic gratuities as service charges that are taxable as regular wages and subject to payroll tax withholding.
This will likely force restaurants to get rid of it.

The restAurant I work for (Longhorn Steakhouse) has already gotten rid of it. I believe the other restaurants under the same owner (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Capital Grille) have all ceased auto-gratuities as well.Comment

I actually really like it. And that's after eating it multiple times a week for the past three years. We don't freeze out steaks or chicken like certain other places, which helps.Comment

Re: GUYS, What is your Perspective on Tipping
My tipping procedure is simple:
20% when I walk in the door. You go up and down from there. It's tough on me to leave any less than 15%, and if I do I'm speaking to the manager respectfully before I do.
I leave at least $5 on bills $20 or less.Comment

Re: GUYS, What is your Perspective on Tipping
I can't think about the logic of the system of tipping because then it really starts making little sense to me. Typically I'll max out at 20% and start there, but I will go as low as I feel the service warrants. I think the lowest tip I've left was enough change to make the ticket a round number. It was a terrible meal.

Re: GUYS, What is your Perspective on Tipping
I'm too poor to be throwing $5s but yeah I usually tip $3 on a $12 check just cause I feel weird tipping a $1.50 in a restaurant like my other friends do when we go out.
I've never had a bad experience, but based on how I was raised I'd leave little to none if everything suckedSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment
