Yea, I can't mess with someone earning a living. I'll just go to a different place or make sure that I'm not in that individual's section next time.

Yeah....even when my wife is present, if she is young, hot (or extremely cute) AND a great server, she'll get a larger tip.

          That sounds.....yeah.

I never got that stance. Well, I get it, but I'm not throwing down an extra $5 or $10 because you're sexy. Ugly gotta make a living too!

I'm more concerned about is this person just a drone or do they somewhat care. When I served, I didn't really care but I made it seem like I did. I treated a group of teenagers differently then a group of old ladies. Extremely polite with the old folks, a lot more laid back and casual with the younger crowd. Straight to the point with the men, charming with the ladies. I can't turn that off! hahaha

I really don't prefer either a guy or girl as my server. Do your job, don't be miserable or give attitude (especially since we're not a needy couple), and you're golden for 20%.

I need some help guys. My wife and I are using a car service to get to a doctor's appointment in downtown Chicago. The car service says the driver should be the same for the entire trip. Question: Do I tip him at the end of the trip or once we get downtown, and then once again when we get home?

I would just tip him at the end of it. If you give him half of what you are going to tip him he might think you are just stiffing him.

What's your perspective on leaving a $3 dollar tip on a $9 dollar breakfast? I've always thought that I'm leaving a good enough tip (33%) especially since I don't ask the waiter for a thousand things.

Ordered carry out from Olive Garden. The customer service was so terrible over the phone I didn't leave a tip. Felt bad but it was warranted

I typically don't tip on carryout, if I do it's a dollar or two. But nothing close to 15% or 20% of the order.

Why would you have to tip on carryout? Don't they just ring you up and you leave? Or am I missing something?

The only time I tip for carryout is when I go to the local brewery at pick up some growlers. It takes the bartenders along time to fill those and make sure they are filled correctly.

The smart places are starting to have fresh ones pre-filled and refrigerated. That way you just drop off your empties and pick up a new one.
