Is there really a five-page thread on something that costs a dollar-twenty?"You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: And just like that, McDonald's just lost one, if not millions of customers
It is very true, and I understand what I did. But let me put it to you this way... it took me six minutes alone to dump the coins in the God-forsaken machine (that's how many coins I had). Imagine how long it would have taken to roll up that many coins. Even if they were all quarters, that would still be over 500 coins to roll up. They weren't all quarters though, of course (maybe only $50 worth).
Like I said, it's not the dollar difference, it's the percent difference. 20% is over 100% more than 8.9%.
You must be real popular...I have seen this "My intelligence is so much higher why do I bother" in a lot of posts from you. I chuckle every time after briefly skimming over your long winded posts about nothing.(Like Seinfeld)Comment

That's... fantastic. Not quite what this thread is about, either. I don't want to go down that road like I have before, so please stop whenever possible.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Yep, if he rolled his own coins and took them to the bank, the actual increase would only be 11.1%..assuming he spent it all on these meals.
If $123 was the amount received at the Coinstar after the reduction, then the initial amount was about $135 (123/(1-0.089). With that $12 savings, he could have covered his costs for the next 60 double cheeseburgers.

To echo C's and other's comments, its funny how this thread has turned into a dissertation on the equitable value of the Double Cheeseburger...we have turned the Value Menu into an allegory of our economy...good work, fellas.Comment

It doesn't matter if it is rolled or not. The banks don't care. If you bring it in all loose, they will let there money processing center process it for you. Only problem is you won't get the money deposited in your account right away, you probably have to wait 1-2 days.
My bank won't take un-rolled coins.
Also, your name has to be on the roll in case its a quarter or two short.Twitter

Re: And just like that, McDonald's just lost one, if not millions of customers
Well, you can do better with fries (IMO McDonald's has the best of the local fast food joints) and milkshakes (Jack In the Box), but its burgers are unbeatable. They don't need to, but if their double-double prices were cut 20%, that would definitely be best burger value (filling and taste are so high up there, cost difference is almost irrelevant in the case of value).Comment

I said something similar back on page 5. If the McCain-Palin ticket had zeroed in on the spiraling costs of double cheeseburgers instead of Obama's experience, they might be moving to the White House next month.Originally posted by VP Richard M.
