Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I just got a great present guys. I got a bottle of Samichlaus Bier coming my way. It is only brewed ONCE a year.

“Samichlaus” beer is brewed once a year, in each case on December 6th, and stored and matured afterwards for over 10 months before it is bottled. "Samichlaus” beer can mature for many years in the bottle; older vintages obtain a complexity and receive their creamy warm aftertaste. This beer can be served with heavy meals and desserts, particularly with chocolate - or as digestive and meditations drink. According to the Guinness Book of Records, it is the strongest lager beer in the world with 14 % alcohol and 32° original extract content. It is brewed exclusively of natural raw ingredients after the purity requirement of 1516. “Samichlaus” beer is filled in a 0.33 litre designer bottle embossed with Schloss Eggenberg and in barrels of 15 and 30 litres for export."Comment

Is that the beer that Birmingham only got about 50 cases of city-wide? The people at J. Clyde were raving about a Bell's brew this past Friday. Maybe that was it.Twitter

I have some of this in my fridge right now. Expensive, but oh so delicious. It gets snapped up very quickly from the liquor stores and bars that stock it in my area.Comment

That Bell's Hopslam is all over the place here in Cleveland. I know of three places that have it on tap and about half a dozen stores that always have six packs of it in stock. I think it's just okay, but my old lady is in love with it.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Tried a local Double IPA (might be a triple actually, wasn't clear on that) that was pretty amazing... up there with the Dogfish Head 90-Minute actually for me. It was Wynkoop Brewing's "Mister Fister"... don't even see it on BeerAdvocate, and it's only at the Brewpub as far as I can tell. It was super tasty and hoppy but not bitter at all... also not sweet like the Dogfish 120-Minute.. perfect hoppy high-ABV beer for me really.Last edited by Stumbleweed; 02-02-2010, 02:50 PM.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
So, I'm sitting in one of my local bars last night with a couple of friends and we're all drinking either Guinness or Newcastle Brown (the best beers they have at that particular bar unfortunately) and some guy randomly comes up to me and says, "How can you guys drinks that stuff? It tastes horrible to me!" I told him that it was actually pretty bland to me and that I normally drink stuff with at least double the ABV and with a lot more flavor. He just looked at me like he was completely puzzled and then proceeded to order a round of Bud freaking Light for him and his two pals. I had a laugh or two at his expense, finished my Guinness and went home and downed a few Young's Double Chocolate Stouts and went to bed.Comment
