Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
So, I'm sitting in one of my local bars last night with a couple of friends and we're all drinking either Guinness or Newcastle Brown (the best beers they have at that particular bar unfortunately) and some guy randomly comes up to me and says, "How can you guys drinks that stuff? It tastes horrible to me!" I told him that it was actually pretty bland to me and that I normally drink stuff with at least double the ABV and with a lot more flavor. He just looked at me like he was completely puzzled and then proceeded to order a round of Bud freaking Light for him and his two pals. I had a laugh or two at his expense, finished my Guinness and went home and downed a few Young's Double Chocolate Stouts and went to bed.
He shows up with Bud light..........I told him OOOOOO hell no. Lets go take a ride. We went ride to my local brew house and grabbed some good brew. I handed him a bottle of Chimay Blue label (grande Reserve) and a bottle of Aventinus.
I ended up getting a 4 pack of Sam Smiths Oat Meal Stout and we went back to the house and drank. Now I am happy to say he WON'T drink any of that other crap.
First word out his mouth when he opened the bottle of Aventinus was "This is some good IShhhh"Comment

Yikes. I still consider myself an amateur when it comes to good beer thanks to the ancient liquor/beer laws in Alabama. But the only way I'll drink a Bud Light or the equivalent is at a bar where it isn't feasible to drink quality beer.
Some people just don't know what good beer actually is. Like fish said though, it's due to ignorance.Twitter

There is a documentary on Netflix instant-stream called Beer Wars that I think would interest some of you guys. Really good look at the competitive beer market and the impact made by the larger companies on smaller breweries. Dogfish Head is featured immensely in this...very cool.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Three Beers I drank last night.
Franziskaner Hefe Weiss
My Rating = B-
I thought it was so so, It had a excellent head and a wonderful color. But lack flavor in my opinion.
Cimes Yeti
WONDERFUL!!!!
My rating = B+
Extremely strong(8%abv), but with a ton of flavor. Tad bit sweet for my taste thats why I knocked it down a letter grade.
Rouge Dead Guy Ale
My rating = A
Excellent Beer, not to high a abv at 6.5% so it retains good drinkability. Has great balance of flavor between hops and citrus apple style.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Well we got quite a bit of snow today so I decided to head out and grab a couple beers to hold me over for the day. I picked up Dogfish Head's Red & White. Really looking forward to drinking this. Dogfish Head has never let me down before, so I doubt it will happen today.
Also picked up a Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout. Heard great reviews about it and finally decided to pick one up. Reviews will come later. Good times are ahead. Cheers!Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Reunited with my old friend Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter last night. If there's a better porter in this world, I've yet to have it. If you have the slightest taste for porters / stouts, this is a must buy.
And damn you Great Lakes for no longer distributing here!Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Just finished it off and I agree with you 100%. Incredibly tasty and surprisingly smooth. It looked beautiful coming out of the bottle into my glass. Perfect amount of head and dark coloring. I will be buying some more of this on Saturday.
I didn't get a chance to pop open the Dogfish Head Red & White yet, but I have a feeling it will be gone by Saturday. Review to come.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Heh, that stout is fierce. Haven't tried The Beast yet, but everything Avery is quality.
I want to get up to their newly-reopened tap house sometime, but I hate Boulder. I want to stop by Great Divide this afternoon after work because they're having a release party for the Oak-Aged Yeti Espresso Stout and some other things.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
