Lol. I figured that much. The show is ok, it's just interesting to me because I didn't realize how quickly people meet up.
Fwiw, I met my wife through MySpace, and we did a lot of messages first before meeting up a week later. Catfish didnt really enter my mind but that was about 10 years ago, so who knows.Comment

Never seen or heard of this show but might just have to check it out now that you brought it up sounds interesting to see. I have met up with just a couple of women from online site and we messaged a few times before the meet, figure that was pretty standard. I can only imagine the crazy things women get messaged. I won't lie I was very skeptical on my first meet but it actually went very well.Yankees

I can echo the sentiments that women on dating sites are awful at keeping conversations going. I can carry a conversation on my own, but I'm going to need some sort of effort from the other person to make it worth my while.
I check Facebooks immediately before even responding to people. One of the first people to ever contact me had like 3 Facebooks, two of which that were semi-active at the same time. Massive red flag. Also didn't help that she called me hun within like two seconds of texting. Only my close significant other and little old ladies can call me hun.

Well my days of online dating are over.
Met someone off of POF. Took 6 months to finally get the courage to make it official but it was worth the wait, and didn't felt I needed to rush it.
Felt it was just more a friendship but in the end, we we're both making it hard on ourselves because we both wanted it to work out.
Always hope! Now we should get a commercial of our own.Comment

Struck up a conversation with someone who had just moved to the area. She wants to hang out, but a combo of being new to the area and never doing the online thing before lead to wanting to hangout with her group of friends. Which is cool since we are both kind of looking to meet more people. Would it be weird to ask to skype or something before that so we at least have a normal 1 on 1 "face to face" conversation before that first meetup?Comment

I've done the skype thing before.
I'm on the "move faster" bus. I dislike waiting it out so to me, the sooner you speak in person, the better - even if it's only a video chat.

I don't know if its just my city or a site wide thing, but lately I've noticed on POF that there are a lot of "weird" profiles. I haven't sent a message in probably 2-3 months. Right now whenever I look its girls with just random profiles or they don't fill anything out and write "just ask if you wanna know anything".

Update. I will be getting married next month to a person I met on OKCupid! We have been dating for over a year now and we both know that we are perfect for one another. So dating sites can work, you just have to get through all the nonsense on the websites.Comment
