Yeah, I know. Adjustable sets are the most cost effective, but your almost still looking at $350-$500 to get two dumbbells that go up to 50 pounds.

I am thinking about going through a cycle of insanity. let me know how it is. It seems to be more cardio/ lose wait type stuff right?

It is specifically designed for losing weight - and though it does have a lot of cardio, it works similar muscles to P90X. The difference is Insanity uses no weights at all. It's all about body resistance.

Anyway, it provides nutritional information on how to gain weight using Insanity. So, that's what I'm following. Basically, it offers 10 meal options for every meal (5 meals in total for the day) and offers it at a 300 calorie diet. Then it informs you on how to make that same meal a 400 calorie or 500 calorie meal. In addition, there are 100 and 200 block snacks that you can add to the meal to push it higher.

If you're trying to add weight, I don't know about Insanity. You'll get more tone but from what I've seen, p90x is where you're really going to be putting on mass.

Basically all their giving you is a meal plan but the actual workouts, from what I've seen online, don't seem as weight heavy as p90x.

If your patient, you can probably pick up a pair a little cheaper; maybe $200-$250, but it just depends on how big your area is and how long you want to wait.

You can hit up garage sales and take advantage of someone who's lazily trying to get rid of a set, but again, your counting on a little luck.

I picked up a golds gym set on clearance at Sports Authority for like $250, but that was a steal, IMO.

Okay guys I just got the program. I want to LOSE WEIGHT and lose a lot of weight. I'll worry about muscle next time. Do I need to do the LEAN program?

Also, do you think I would be able to manage doing my regular 40 minutes of cardio (eliptical) at my gym and then still doing the p90x program as well? Or is that too much? I just don't think p90, even the LEAN, is gonna be enough cardio for me.

This does appear to be the case. But, the diet is the most important thing for me and any workout is going to improve my frame. Either way, I'm not concerned because I don't expect to hit my goals in two or three months. I expect to work this hard into the baseball season and then continue again after.

Insanity is two months. I'm jumping onto P90X immediately after. If I start P90X sooner then that's because my coworker jumped ship. Starting Monday, I'm doing one or the other.

When I'm working out, yes. I haven't been working out regularly during football season though.

I think you'll be doing that cardio and more with P90X.

But, also realize that a lot of the program is about what you eat. The guys that have done it will tell you.

Think i may have to try this after the xmas break. What time of the day do you guys do your workouts etc? It take an hour or more to go through each workout doesn't it?

Trying to figure out where i'm going to fit this time into my schedule.

I ran into a problem. I went and purchased a pull up bar for the doorway but it doesn't fit in the doors of my apt. What can I do to replace the pull ups? There's nowhere for a band to hang or anything.

I thought I read somewhere that p90x offers a substitute exercise for the pull-up. I could be wrong, though.

Yeah, it's the band in the doorway. Have to find some way to attach it at the top of a doorway.
