What kind of band is that Pared? Also, I saw in the intro video someone using this, and they had it hooked up to the ceiling about 15 feet high in that workout room. I don't know of anyway to make this work?? I got the mat, dumbbells, I'm ready to rock.

Do you guys find you need much space to do the workouts in?

The reason i ask is that i have a home gym (with pull up bar and free weights) but it is in a fairly small room and i won't have much space to jump around etc.

I bought a band from Sports Authority that included a little piece that can be pinched in a door when it is closed. You put it at the top the door, get on your butt, and pull downward.

It's a regular band, it just came with that piece... I didn't think it was anything special though... maybe some don't have it?

Yea, my band has the same thing. Just open the door, slide the little pouch over the space, close the door, and as long as you can lock the door, the band will stay in place.

During the workouts, they have the background trainers performing exercises differently so you can see how each is done.

I started with the first day yesterday.

Congrats! That's a strange day to start the program though... the weekend will have you doing 2 major exercises, including the hour and 45 min. long Yoga routine.

you dont need a large amount of space. For the most part, the only workouts that might require space bigger than an individual mat is plyometrics and maybe a few exercises in core synergistics. Outside of those 2 workouts you can stay on workout pad which isnt much space at all.

when I say that core synergistics might need more space, I mean that you have to do tractor tires(like in football) and you have to jump around and stuff so while its not a crazy amount of space needed, you wont be able to do it in a closet neither.

Nah, just jump right in. Maybe view the DVD first but don't go crazy... you'll see a better performance jump that way.

sounds good. I've ordered some resistance bands and push up bars that should arrive this week sometime. When i'm home i can use the pull up bar in my gym but i travel a fair bit for work so i can use the resistance bands in my hotel room so a can still get my workouts in.

I think the hardest part for me will be that i'll have to get up at 5am to find the time to do this each day. I think on days where you have to do the 2 workouts i'll have to come back and do abripperX in the evening because i won't have time to do both in the morning before work.

Ab Ripper X is only 14 minutes. If you give yourself an hour and a half, you'll have time.

And yea, Wednesday was an awkward start date, but it's cool. I have Yoga on Sunday (had to miss a day thanks to a work event - I rather get rest than exercise at 11 pm at night).

I am really motivated and keen to start this today but i just know with xmas and being on the road etc it's probably best to wait until the new year to start it. I'm tempted to start now and get a week or 2 in then stop for a week over the xmas break then start again from the beginning in early Jan.

decisions decisions.

Some of those transformations on youtube are amazing and really motivating.

Pared how have you found it in terms of body composition (are you losing fat + adding muscle) etc?

There are different routes within the diet, depending on if you want to lose weight or gain weight or even just stay your same size now.

I did it for a month earlier this year. The diet wasn't hard, but then I don't mind diets at all. I actually think they make things easier. I dropped 20 pounds in 4 weeks on P90x (roughly 196 to 176), and about 4+ inches in my waist. Unfortunately I got sick while I was on it, for nearly a week and then never went back on it, which was too bad, because I was entering the phase where you actually start to put muscle on. Was still nice to lose the weight though.

What I found hard were the work out regiments. They were killers, at least for me, and especially at the start. Towards the 4th week I could make it through all but a couple of them without a problem. You have to set aside at least 1 hour a day (minimum) for the work out alone, and then 1.5 every other day due to the additional Ab workout (which isn't bad, just time consuming).

I will say one thing. Believe what you see about P90x if you follow the diet and do the workout regiment. It works.

I haven't read all of the diet info yet and was tossing up just sticking with what i'm currently doing or doing the p90x diet. So for the diet in the intial stages i'm looking at about 2000cals per day (no less than 1500) with a minimum amount of carbs. Would this work:

B'fast: 3 or 4 eggs /egg whites + some lean ham

morning: ?

Lunch: Large salad with skinless chicken breast and fat free dressing

Afternoon: Protein shake in water

Dinner: Lean meat (fish, chicken or steak) and steamed veges

I would need to workout in the morning on an empty stomach, does anyone else do that? What is a good snack for my morning snack that is low in carbs but high in protein?
