Nothing wrong with that. I actually got my first cell phone in 2002, only becase my dad insisted buying me one (I'm kinda like your parents). Never really liked this thing, and I use it mostly for emergencies.

Answer to the original question - yes. Not that I'm embarrassed by how we met, but more how others perceive me, they give me that "WTF?" look and I hate having to explain it (It was a long story 5 years ago)

My girlfriend of over two years and I went to high school together, but we were both shy then so I added her on facebook the summer after HS graduation. We hit it off, and have been together since October of 08. It's not REALLY internet meeting, but we never talked in HS so it's a little of both.

My mom and my Step dad met online around 10 years or so ago. I don't think they were embarassed to say anything at all.

Personally I don't think i'd be willing to find a girl online that I never met, but if like posted earlier it's a girl I know but just haven't talked to in awhile and meet over Facebook that would be fine to me.

I'm too young to think about marriage (23) and never got into the social networking thing. I don't have an ol' lady now, but I believe firmly in the old fashion way. I'm a decent looking guy and with plenty of game, so I love meeting women in person. Stuff happens a lot faster too when you can get it done in person (i know ). I'll admit that texting and leaving each other messages can allow you to get closer, but if you have no problem saying that stuff in person, you'll have no problem with the women.

I think looks are more important in online dating than real life.

I met my wife online but it's actually a pretty cool story.

I was going to school online, and about halfway through the quarter, a girl in my class sent me an e-mail asking me if I could be her "study buddy" and help her with the class. I was so tempted to say, "No, I'm just worrying about me," but I am glad I didn't.

I ended up adding her on MSN and we became friends. We mainly just talked about school and life. One day, she tells me she has this friend that I should add to my friend's list. I thought sure, why not.

Her and I became friends as well but it was strictly just that -- friends. I had to go buy books one day and the school was about a two-hour drive, so me and this new girl thought it would be cool to meet.

We did, and it was cool. We went to lunch and played some hoops afterward. That was that, we said goodbye and that was it.

We went back to chatting online through MSN and I just felt more of a connection with her, our beliefs and the way we looked at life was really similar. I told her one day that I had developed feelings for her and asked her if I could take her on a date.

Remember, this was the girl that my "online school" buddy introduced me to -- not the girl who was in my class.

We went on a date and to make a long story short, we were together for a year and a half before we were married.

We have a beautiful 11-month-old son and have been married for three and a half years (been together for five years total now).

There's more to the story but that's the short version -- I never felt the need to get online and hit up dating sites because finding girls was never a big problem for me, but the way all that unfolded was pretty cool.

And to answer the original question, no, it's nothing to be embarrassed about. Not everyone wants to go out and find girls and find out if there's some big compatibility issues. I think the online dating scene is very viable and can help a person weed out what they don't want in a woman.

I've seen plenty of relationships flourish that started out online.

Great Story, Apostle. I met my wife online and then we moved on to MSN, but after couple of hours moved to the phone - and that was it - afterwards it was a real date. But I must say that MSN did help me get to know her a bit and that led to actually meeting.
